Commercial Description:
Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

WOW! Great beer. Malty and bitter. The oak is subtle, not overpowering, but adds a great dimension. Deep and rich, with chocolate dominate and fruit and coffee undertones. Thick and syrupy without being cloying or sweet. Well balanced. GREAT!

Bottle. Poured deep, dark brown with a tan head. Strong alcohol aroma. Rich texture, complex flavors. Strong alcohol flavors a little overbearing. Impressive, but not my thing.

Pours a pitch black with a good head with moderate retention. Aroma of tamarind, molasses, and alcohol. Astringent coffee and dark chocolate taste, bitter cocoa with a dry finish. Nice! Creamy body, otherwise thin with ok carbonation. Nice! Not keen on the astringency, though.

This review might as well be simple, this is the mellow goodness of the regular yeti with too much oak character. I prefer the original.

Bottle. This was excellent. Dark black liquid with a dark head. Have not yet tried the regular Yeti to compare (but plan to soon). This one has a nice chocolate almost smoky taste. Really good.

Sampled straight from the tit at the Great Divide brewery when at GABF 2008. This and the Espresso Yeti were trip highlights. Have a couple glasses of water with this one.

bottle from metzlers in denton, tx. poured black with a chocolate brown head. aroma of chocolate, dark roasts, hops, some pine, and alcohol. flavor was the same as the nose with the addition of oak. full body, low carb, some bitter and dryness. cant wait for the barrel aged.

When I saw the email about cask Oaked Yeti I had to hit up the taproom. The appearance of the beer was spot on. It was poured into a Yeti tulip glass. it was solid black with a fluffy cocoa colored head. The smell was muted and the whole tap room smells a little malty anyway. The taste was roasty, a little vanilla, and much more subdued than the bottled version. The mouth-feel was the best part but what do you expect from cask? I still prefer the bottled version.
