Commercial Description:
Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

22oz bottle. Looks very similar to the regular Yeti, but pours a straight black body with a finger-width, creamy, dark brown head. Dissipates a little quicker than the Yeti, but remains similarly lacy and leaves a swirl on the surface. Aroma is sweet and much more bourbon and woody than the Yeti. Having this back to back with the Yeti, I can definitely tell this was aged in oak barrels. The oak really takes a lot of the bitter and roasty smell away. There is still a good amount of roasted malts, bitter hops, and coffee, but it’s clearly less evident than the Yeti. Lots of vanilla in this one too. Much more vanilla than chocolate, however, this one has more of a “milky chocolate” aroma than the Yeti. The taste is noticeably different than the Yeti as well. Much, much, much more oak and bourbon quality. Again, more milky than the Yeti and much more vanilla flavor. Taste is very sweet and rich up front, then balances out quickly to an extremely vanilla, oak, bourbon finish. Less noticeable pine hoppiness than the Yeti, but still a good amount of bitterness. Less roasty as well, but again, it’s still there. Full bodied, still extremely velvety smooth, and a dry, moderate finish. The finish is, however, much more vanilla and bourbon flavored than the Yeti. It also seems to be lighter on the bitter lingering flavor. The flavor still lingers, but instead of the roasty bitterness in the Yeti’s finish, this is more vanilla and bourbon. Overall, I love this beer. I adore the oak and bourbon quality, but I think I may like the regular Yeti a little better. This one has less chocolate, coffee, and roasted qualities than the Yeti...which I tend to enjoy more in an imperial stout...and more of a boozy character...which I still love. So I guess I like the regular Yeti a little better, but this is still one hell of a beer.

bottle at ørsted. pours black, small yellow head. aroma is licorice, oak aged stuff, black caramel, vanilla. aroma is very very appealing. flavor is a nice blend of licorice, roasted malts, faint coffee. aftertaste is extremely fantastic it goes from licorice to roasted stuff and keeps on going for minutes. probably best aftertaste ever with 860 ratings to compare to.

Shared bottle with Timfoolery who got it from Bottle Trek. Poured black with a good sized dark tan head. Tasted of bitter chocolate with a hint of dark fruit. Very full flavored excellant brew. Would buy again.

EBF 2008, Copenhagen. Black and creamy with alcohol evident on the nose but hidden well in the palate. Dangerous stuff! Lots of vanilla and oak flavours yet quite nicely sharp and biting at the end. Very nice.

Pours a deep deep black color with one of the darkest brown heads I have seen on a beer. Aroma was coffee and chocolate with hints of malt sweetness and a touch of vanilla. Mouthfeel was smooth as silk. this beer went down very easily.

Very dark brown with a moderate lighter brown head. Not nearly as oily looking as the Nogne O. Buttery oak vanilla aroma mingles with bitter chocolate and figgy fruit. Soft oaky entry leads the palate into bitter chocolate and coffee with plenty of fig jam and a touch of tobacco. Creamy but not as mouth-filling as the Nogne O. Finish is not as bitter either but is in good enough balance to keep the overall sweetness from becoming too much.

Dark as hades, yet sweet as heaven. This highly drinkable stout would get along well with a rare cut of anything or by itself as is. Great Divide contines to impress.

Black. Thin dark brown head. Aroma of alcohol and esters. Malty chocolate and coffee flavor. Smoky toffee finish, long-lasting.
