Commercial Description:
Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Bomber from BOTW (Rochester), bought well over a year ago, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Very very deep brown-black with wee hints of ruby and a good mocha foam. Aroma: Huge amounts of slightly minty molasses, some licorice, dark dried fruits, chocolate, cacao, vanilla, green pine hops, a bit of soy sauce-like savouriness, a bit of slightly non-dried fruitiness. Palate: Medium-ful body, sparse carbonation, fairly smooth and a little syrupy. Flav.: All sorts of black chocolate, molasses, licorice, fruitiness, some green herbaceous hops, a bit of the oak, mainly as vanilla; definitely some warming alcohol, fairly bitter but also somewhat sweet, burns a little, leaves the mouth feeling very coated and like dark chocolate with the bitterness, deep roasted notes and a slight tartness.

Hard to compare to the original, as I had it long ago. Certainly enjoyed this variation a lot and was glad the strange cat-food thing wasn’t going on.

Bottle, shared w/ danielcurtis81. Lots of roasted malt, and chocolate. Some vanilla and caramel in the black body that goes down very smooth. Nice oak flavor. Very enjoyable.

Draught@EBF, Copenhagen Apperance: Dark brown with a brown creamy lace. Aroma: Roasted malt, Ripe fruit, Bitter chocolate. Flavor: Vanilla, Espresso, Milk chocolate, Licorice, Spices. Hell yeah! Palate: So damn smooth it’s almost scary. Nice initial sweetness from the wood ending with a nice portion of bitter hops. This is a damn good beer. Up there with the very best imperial stouts!

Pours a thick deep dark brown. The nose is roasted malts, and hints of chocolate. Comes across the palate as mild chocolate & coffee notes with and fine vanilla finish with alight bitterness.

In the bottle from By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA.
Same great appearance, flavor and texture as the standard Yeti but with a very nice, smooth vanilla oak characteristic. I’d like to see this beer after being laid down for a year or so.
