Commercial Description:
Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Aroma is vanilla, espresso, chocolate mousse, sweet malt. Pitch black with an orange, tan head. Thick mouthful. Balanced all around. Flavor is chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, spicy notes. Warming alcohol, but not not overdone. Sweetness lingers on palate(vanilla), followed by bitter hops. Great stout, delicious. Picked this up at the Columbus Circle Whole foods. A steal at 7.99.

Bottle on sale at Beverage Barn, East Meadow, NY. Gorgeous smell of oak, roasted coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Small hint of alcohol in there as well. Beautiful brown/black color, small brown/tan head. Flavor is sweet, roasted malts, coffee, with substantial hops. While this was unexpected, it complemented the sweetness nicely. It leaves a nice roasty taste on the palate, but strangely, this taste dissipates fast. Great beer overall, definitely on my short list of favorites.

Pours used motor oil black with a big, dense two finger mocha head that lingers for ages leaving great lacing. This is one helluva good looking brew. Smell is big and complex with semi-sweet dark chocolate, roasted malts and some of the oak as well. There is also a strong licorice and vanilla scent on top of that. Big roasted malt flavor up front which gives way to the sweetness of the dark chocolate and vanilla. The finish has a strong oak presence with a hint of citrus hops that lends to a bit of bitterness along with the smooth malts. Mouthfeel is extremely creamy and smooth with moderate carbonation and coats your mouth with the sweet malty chocolate taste. I would call this the most drinkable beer I’ve ever tasted. It’s definitely a sipper and like a great dessert, one for savoring slowly. Highly recommended.

Pours like motor oil with a very faint tan head. The oak doesn’t hit you until the first taste, but it’s welcomed and perefectly compliments the rich espresso taste. Definitely a treat.

This is truly not my idea of an appealing stout being that it’s way too bitter, and not in a good way. The bitterness leaves no hop flavor and i can’t detect much of an aroma, just a very resinous bitterness that lingers. Other than that the brew looks solid has excellent mouthfeel and after it warms up has a decent aroma to it. All in all, i wouldn’t buy this again.

Bottle from Sam’s Quik Shop in Durham, NC. Pours pure black with a medium tan head. Very rich aroma of esperesso and roasted malt. Oak comes through in the taste more than the aroma. The taste has notes of roasted malt, oak, buttery french toast, spiciness. Warming alcohol presence. Thick and chewy texture.

Bottle: Nice roasted malt aroma. I couldnt pick up on any oak aroma. Poured into a snifter, dark black, thick with a coffee colored small head. Intially a taste of roasted malt, coffee flavor and in the after taste a nice bitter hoppiness to it! Smooth, and I like the bitterness in a stout. Some chocolate thrown in. I could not pick up on any oak flavor which is kind of nice because sometimes when a beer is oak aged it is over done... Good stout!
