t4h2c0 (47), seattle, USA Oct 8, 2007 This beer kicks ass and the best thing is that it is always on tap somewhere in seattle. If the bottles were not so expensive I would stock up and aged the piss out of it. I love the bourbon notes and I love beers u cant see through!! This beer should be rated higher that Stone RIS
IPAaLLtHEwAY (93), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Jul 17, 2008 Pours a perfect black, no light survives. Tan head. Strong aroma of oak, vanilla, whiskey, chocolate, burnt toast, and roasted malts. Flavor is big on the oak and whiskey, lots of cocoa powder, dark chocolate. Finish has a bit of oak and alcohol. Mouthfeel is thick, although not the ideal "motor oil" consistency. I don’t think that I’ve ever had a beer that stands up so well to the wood aging, though. Excellent. ysusi (10), Mexico, Mexico Jul 16, 2008 Black colored with a brown creamy head. Smells like wood, dark chocolate, and vanilla. Tastes like chocolate, bourbon, burnt malts, and wood. Well balanced. Good body. Slightly bitter woody and coffee finish. Great job. tarc (40), New Jersey, USA Jul 16, 2008 Bottle: The wood, hops, vanilla and malt all leap from the bottle as you open it. (I think it’s the Yeti trying to escape) It pours black as tar. (Aren’t Yetis white?) with a tan head (dirty Yeti?). The flavor is strong (I think I can still taste the oak barrel) but it’s good stuff for sure, lthough, I prefer the non oak sibling... Beer_Hawk (628), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Jul 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with a tan head that settles quickly. Huge oak, chocolate, and vanilla aroma backed with light hops and alcohol. The flavor is a nice mix of roasted malts, coffee, and vanilla. The alcohol is slightly heavy in the flavor. Full body with a bitter alcohol aftertaste. SuperDave70 (641), Arizona, USA Jul 14, 2008 Bottle, 1 year old. Deep black pour with a small, but lasting creamy brown head. Lots of aroma, roasted malt and nuts, wood, coffee, chocolate and alcohol. Similar flavors, with coffee coming through the strongest, and a bit of nuttiness and vanilla. Nice bitter finish with some hops coming through. Really great stuff!
