| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 20, 2009 Pours a dark mahogany with a frothy tan head. Aroma of citrus and caramel..subtle hint of chocolate as well. Nice full body with sweet malts and plenty of hops both upfront and in the finish. Although the hops are front and center, it is still surprisingly balanced considering the high IBU’s. Overall a nice Barley Wine. jonno (597), Brisbane, Australia
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 20, 2009 A good ol kick to chops. Pours a beautiful mahogany red, with a half inch head (poured quite vigourously). Sweet nose of caramel and hops. Very smooth and full bodied wih a malty hop wallop on the end. Lots of alcohol heat here. One of the better barleywines I have had, along with the Old Guardian. beerdad (83), Kansas, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 17, 2009 Bottle pours a dark amber chestnut color with a thin tan head. Aroma is a nice mixture of sweet caramel malts, dried fruit, and citrus pine hops. Excellent bold flavor! At first sip you are greeted with tons of hop bitterness on the front end, followed by some caramel malt sweetness in the middle and ending with a lingering hop bitterness in the finish. There are some hints of smokiness hidden within the bitter aftertaste as well. A slight warming feeling from the alcohol, but otherwise the 10+% is barely noticeable. A very nice and balanced barley wine. dwaggs2 (561), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA
