Commercial Description:
A malty, copper-hued treat from start to finish, Ridgeline begins with a distinctive, estery aroma. Followed with a complex, nutty malt flavor true to its Scottish-style heritage, Ridgeline delivers unparalleled character and dimension. A touch of hops rounds out its silky, full body, highlighting Ridgeline’s subtle but engrossing character.

Pours a clear copper with a dense, creamy, beige head with patchy lacing. The nose is malty, nutty and peaty, almost like a Scottish ale. The light side of medium-bodied, the mouthfeel is slick with a toasted, dry finish. The flavor is a lightly sweet toasted malt front with backing notes of nuts and peat. It reminds me a bit of GD’s now retired HotShot ESB, but with added nuttiness and an amped up flavor profile. Despite the general consensus, this is now one of my favorite ambers.

Pours amber with an off white head. Aroma is malty with earth notes especially potting soil with some nuts as well. Solid roated nuts flavor with some earth notes. Decent malt body with a light somewhat dry finish.

Clear light amber with a decent looking 1 cm thick off-white head. Mild lightly biscuity malt aroma with a light touch of hop aroma. The taste actually has a hint of bitterness in the profile, but the finish is mostly a lightly sweet malt flavor. A quality offering of an unexciting style.

Amber brown in color with a white half inch head the dissipates almost immediately. Malty aroma with hint of caramel. A woody taste with strong hop sharpness.

Pours a hazy golden brown, very much like a well-brewed iced tea. Head is egg shell and normal, not large or thin. Aroma is full and fruity. Rich malt, sugars, and crisp apples and raisins, with just a hint of cinnamon. Actually a really good tasting beer. The mouthfeel is a tad watery. But there is a ton of flavor to go around: caramel, apple, pine, and pear roll into a crisp, prickly burnt sugar/pine cone hop ending. Perfect flavor curve for an amber. The dry and sharp hops never get metallic or harsh. Just an excellent palate finisher to balance the rich malt. This is my new favorite amber. Picked up a 12 oz. bottle at Whole Foods in Falls Church, VA for $ 1.50.

a beer with a bit of a bitter soul. that stands for something. caramel but not sweet. tingly hop with a touch of citrus flavor. decent formula but also a tad soapy. light quality bitter aftertaste with that caramel on the backbeat. but then all in all cleanish on the finish.

Another beer on the light side from Great Divide. A little more taste than Samurai. Good matl and hop flavors with just a little bite at the finish. Good light brown color with a medium head.

Aroma is faint with some malt tones. Color is a nice brown with good carbonation and thin head. Taste is malty and dry. Starting with a Medium body it goes down with a crisp dry feel. Finish starts in with light roasted malt flavor that blends out to a faint hop flavor then ends with a nice bitterness that leads to a dry feeling after taste. This is a well balanced and tasty beer. One of the best Amber Ales I can remember having.
