Commercial Description:
Our homage to the beers that have quenched the thirst of Belgian farm workers for centuries. Brewed with barley, wheat and rice and fermented at high temperatures with a special blend of four different yeast strains, Saison is fruity and slightly tart, with a dry finish that makes it that rarest of treats–a beer as refreshing as it is complex. 7.3% ABV.

22oz bottle. Poured in a Smokestack Chalice (v2) right out of the beer fridge. Hazy golden color with a foamy white head that drops down after a minute or so. Carbonation evident. Aroma is yeasty at first with some light citrus and floral notes hiding in the back. The aroma, overall, is somewhat muted, possibly due to the low temp, thankfully this is a large format bottle so I will have it at many different temps. Very thick bodied at first, I would imagine the proteins and carbonation help with that. The finish is more balanced, for the style, than I would prefer, but it is not alarmingly so. There is a lingering, pleasant bitterness at the end as well as a bit of tartness, these two things go a long way in making this a fairly drinkable beer. The tang at the very end seems to be lactic acid, which I enjoy. The flavor is yeast and vanilla, with a little bit of fruit, both topical and citrus, as well as a touch of husky grain. The overall flavor and aroma are laid back, but with overall pleasant flavors. I think a drier finish would improve the beer, although this has more mass appeal for those making their initial foray into this style.

22 oz bomber. Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a large foamy white head. Aroma of light lemon, grass, bread dough, light funk and yeast. Taste of grassy notes, light lemon, bread dough and a hint of funk. Slightly tart, but very refreshing for a summer night.

Poured a hazy pale yellow color, nice head but below a full saison head. The aroma was hefe-like with only gentle funk, yeasty. The flavor was lemon, bananas, grass, and more yeast. The mouthfeel was mildely carbonated for the style, some dryness in the finish, but more lemongrass than anything. A decent brew, but not outstanding within the style.

pours a cloudy yellow with a big white head that disapates rather quickly. notes of bread, grass, spices, lemon, wheat, and some faint belgian yeast. very smooth and easy drinkin. No off flavors, just not the flavor punch I was looking for.

Bomber Bottle, has a hazy pour of faint bright yellow, little orange hues in the glass, gave a one or two finger high head of white bubbles, there are variable sized bubbles, there is medium or so effervescence in the glass, leaves some lacing on the sides of the glass, some brown colored sediment that covers part of the bottom of the bottle with a thin layer, aromas of lemon and orange citrus with light banana, orange skin, there is a hop floral fragrance on the nose, also, this has a light malt sweetness on the nose, light citrus fruit flavors with faint bread and Pilsner malt(?) The finish is dry with grassy notes and a touch of herbs(?), mouth feel is light, less than medium, nice carbonation, mouth feel seems to depreciate as it warms, this ale gave me an impression I was drinking a Belgian Wit Ale, maybe it was the wheat?

Saison rating #99. Shared by Dickinsonbeer. Floral, bubblegum, thyme aroma. Lemon/orange and bitter flavor, bready and dry. Not very complex or expressive, but decently crafted. It is clear these guys don’t do many Belgian style beers. I liked it, though. Better than its rating implies.
