Commercial Description:
Looking for something a little different? Brewed with rice and barley malts, Samurai is an easy drinking, unfiltered ale that changes the status quo for unfiltered beers. The addition of rice gives Samurai a slightly fruity, crisp, refreshing and clean taste. This is definitely not your everyday unfiltered beer.

I thought a kolsch, maybe. Cloudy gold color. Light malt body with corn, rice, and surprisingly, some salt. This is very drinkable and there are no flaws, and it is certainly a few steps above a pale yellow lager.

Very pale yellow beer with a white head. Aroma is sour and fruity. Maybe it’s just me, but it called to mind rotting apricots and was very offputting. The beer itself was inoffensive, light, and refreshing. Slightly hoppy, but mostly the grain and rice flavor comes through. I’d like this a lot more without the poor aroma.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Light, somewhat fruity, interesting, and unique. This isn’t something I would want to drink all the time, but it’s definitely interesting and worth a try.

Pours a transparent golden yellow with a decent amount of standard white head. Aroma of apricot and a bit of yeast. Flavor has a nice amount of fruit to it, as well as malt and hops. Light and a bit thin.

Has a bright yellow color and is mostly clear. I can smell malts, yeast, and a slight citrus aroma. Taste is full of carbonation, with flavors of malts and hops. Has a little bite in the end. This one is nothing too special.

Orange straw hazy pour with a nearly nonexistent head. Smells of citrus and some floral hops. Taste is slightly metallic orange and lemon, some bitter finish. A light beer for a hot day.

12 oz bottle from Siciliano’s (Grand Rapids, MI). Pours a cloudy straw pale yellow, decent bright white bubbly head that dies to a non existant film. Aromas are muted, light, a bit grainy and rice comes into the equation. A bit grainy, a bit sour, almost with some subtle Biere De Garde character, light bitterness in the finish. A bit of light fruit, vague orange. Hard to describe. A slight funk that grows on me. Not sure if that is supposed to be there, perhaps the rice? Interesting, but falls a bit short overall for a rebuy.

From the Bottle on my first visit to the excellent Great Divide Brewing Company, Denver 12/10/2007 Pale hop aroma. Clear golden coloured pale and malty with a creamy finish.
