pumpmaster (420), Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA Jun 20, 2009 12 ounce bottle purchased at Total Wine Pembroke Pines, FL for $1.99 Very good. coyotehunter (340), , Michigan, USA Jun 18, 2009 Bottle with thanks to MrBunn. Pours a reddish black with a thinnish head. Some roasted malt and chocolate in the nose with a touch of raisin or prune. Flavor is lacking a bit. Some roasted malt and some chocolate, accompanied with some dirt and ash, but texture wise its a bit weak. Marginal at best. fakepurseninja (705), Washington, USA Jun 18, 2009 Heavily roasted chocolate malt backbone. Light caramel notes with burnt coffee bean and some bitter dark chocolate. A tad thin and watery. bblack99 (72), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jun 15, 2009 Clear dark reddish-brown pour with a perfect tan head. RIDICULOUS amounts of drippy panes of lace, leaving a great history of the beer level.
Nice aroma of coffee, raisins, and malt, which make a nice base for the accent flavor of chocolate. Honestly, more like Nestle’s Quik than dark chocolate, but the flavor works well anyway!
Overly thin for a porter, but the nice malty finish evens things out. djd07 (606), Houston, Texas, USA Jun 10, 2009 Botte as shown. Pours a very dark brown with a medium frothy light tan head that lasts awhile leaving behind good spotty lacing along the glass. The aroma is roasted malt with coffee and sweet caramel. Thin mouthfeel and a bit watery on the palate. Taste is sweet roasted malt with coffee and caramel. Easy to drink a very good Porter from Great Divide. WesKBob (252), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA Jun 2, 2009 Pours a dark brown with a moderate tan head with decent retention. Roasted malt aroma with coffee overtones. Flavor is a good mix of bitter coffee and sweet caramel malts. Just a hint of additional molasses sweetness. Mouthfeel is a little on the light side for the style, but not distractingly so. Overall, it’s not a great porter, but it’s solid and you could certainly do a lot worse. Gachupines (263), USA May 31, 2009 Black with a tan head. Aroma is mainly coffee. Taste is coffee as well as some chocolate. Slightly hoppy with a somewhat sweet finish. Might be a little thin, but doesn’t hurt the taste too much. Overall, a good standard porter, and very drinkable. ChrisThomson (254), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 18, 2009 A bit too thin for my liking. Has some decent coffee notes, and smokiness. I wouldn’t go for it again.
