Commercial Description:
St. Bridget, a legendary Irish saint, created a sensation by turning her bathwater into beer. What better way to celebrate her worthy miracle than with our zymurgistic tribute to her feat, St. Bridget's Porter. St. Bridget's is a smooth, elegant, and chocolaty brown porter. Brimming with coffee and chocolate characteristics from dark barley malts, St. Bridget's is carefully hopped to provide the perfect complement to its malty robustness.

This beer was very average. I was expecting more adter seeing this rating of 80. It’s almost like ’porter lite’. Everything from the color to the light mouthfeel to the simple finish. A good porter should be darker, have a strong roasted malt flavor, and a complex palate. This beers lacks any true character. Worth only a sip.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a bit of a red hue and a light brown head. Aroma is full of malts leading to a grainy and roasted flavor with an undertone of acidic coffee. Flavor is full of roasted malts with a bit of acidic coffee.

Pours dark brown with Cola highlights and an off-white head. Light aroma is slightly bready, with some dark malt. Flavor is big on roastiness, and coffee with a touch of vanilla and smoke. Not bad.

Smooth, light, chocolate... Pours pretty light in color for a porter, too. Easy to drink and the maltiness comes through well - but that’s one of the only hints you get that this is a porter. Like a porter-lite!

Pours like Coca-cola from the 22oz. bottle: Light carbonation. Coffee beans, toffee hard candy, hazelnut, milk chocolate. Balanced. Sweet. Quite good, bit thin. Drinkability: Pleasant, but I miss the heavy, full bodied smoke that follows with other craft porters. Rebuy: Sure. #180 on 02112009, DG.

12 ounce bottle from Total Wine Triangle Plaza, Raleigh, NC. Pours a clear very dark brown color with a thin brown head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma is chocolatey and nutty with tea and roasted malts. Taste is roasted malts, nuts, chocolate and a faint leafiness. Medium bodied. Decent, but a little underwhelming.

Bottle @ bar Volo, Toronto, ON: Pours very dark brown, reasonable tan head. Aroma of anise, molasses, and caramel. Tastes quite bitter and hoppy, lots of black licorice and chocolate. Great!

Bottle at Sorbon in June 09. A black-colored liquid the head was initially large. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt with hints of coffee and smoke. The taste, was pleasant, some coffee and chocolate but also a little smoke. Perhaps a bit thin, but quite ok to drink anyway. Not advanced but solid and pleasant.
