Commercial Description:
St. Bridget, a legendary Irish saint, created a sensation by turning her bathwater into beer. What better way to celebrate her worthy miracle than with our zymurgistic tribute to her feat, St. Bridget's Porter. St. Bridget's is a smooth, elegant, and chocolaty brown porter. Brimming with coffee and chocolate characteristics from dark barley malts, St. Bridget's is carefully hopped to provide the perfect complement to its malty robustness.

Sampled at the GD tasting at Blacklick Wine and Spirits on 3.26.09. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head. Semi-roasted malt aroma with a bit of chocolate. Malty chocolate flavor with lots of coffee and some hop in the finish. A bit hoppy for a porter, but not too over the top.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2009-03-18) Almost black and clear. Small and tan coloured head. Liquorice and roastedness in aroma. Full bodied and quite dry palate with medium carbonation. Roastedness, liquorice, hint of coffee, bitterness and bit of mämmi in taste. Roastedness and bitterness in aftertaste.

Cola/rootbeer/chocolate aroma. Smells like the chocolate Cokes you can buy (or could buy?) at county fairs. Nice cocoa powder flavor. Rich and well balanced. Good porter.

Comes out of the tap a nearly opaque reddish sable with a decent head. Rich aroma is smoky with nutty and cinnamon hints and an undertone of chocolate. Mouth-filling flavor is chocolaty and smoky; it has nutty, spicy and malt hints, as well as a touch of hop bitterness. Lively and smooth texture leaves a tingly, slightly sweet, mocha aftertaste.

Not bad at all! Very dark brown, almost black color. Has a nice malt scent with hints of coffee and some type of fruits in it. Tastes of malts and fruits. Nice and smooth finish with the regret that I wish I had more. This is my first great divide and I’m sure that there will be more to come.

I also had this porter with pot roast. I thought this was a little too hopped for this type of beer. Did I just say that?

Dark on the pour. Nose has hints of roasted caramel and coffee ground. Finishes a bit dry with an aftertaste that leaves you missing something.

Pretty decent porter. Roasty muted coffee like flavor with a kick of hops. Quite malty, but not overdone. Nice.
