Great, um, "robust" appearance. A little lighter smell, not too many roasties in evidence. However, the taste is nice and mellow. A smooth porter drink with a nice clean finish. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 20, 2007 Bottle. Dark brown body, large rich light tan head, bready nose with some espresso notes. Astringent, perhaps from the carbonation, dark breads, a hint of chocolate and coffee, dry, minimal finish, somewhat thin. portermax55 (118), Canterbury, Connecticut, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 20, 2007 12oz bottle into pint. Pours a dark brown with a thin white head that leaves quickly. Aromas of chocolate and malts with a hint of peanuts. Flavors of coffee beans, with a slightly sweet caramel finish. Has a thin, watered-down mouthfeel for being a "robust" porter. Not bad, but a little disappointing.
