Great chocolate aroma. There is a hint of coffee and the hops help keep this malty brew in check. A very nice porter. Nihon (239), Vernon, Connecticut, USA Sep 3, 2007 Mild chocolaty, malty aroma. Very smooth, chocolaty/dry coffee flavor, not as strong as "chocolate" brews though...good, not great keith0718 (157), Olathe, Kansas, USA Sep 2, 2007 Updated: Mar 26, 2008Not a strong porter. No real toasty, buttery maple/caramel flavor. Strong carbonation bite. Not bad, but not good kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Name: St. Bridgets Porter

clear dark brown, frothy beige head, rich dark chocolate aroma with a light astrengency, creamy body, rich chocolate flavor, nice milk chocolate sweetness, hops kick it towards the end to add balance and complexity and leave a light long bitter finish

I would like to rerate this beer.
CheersMate1 (766), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 31, 2007 A decent ash, and woody aroma. Very faint smell of chocolate. The smell is also very weak compared to some of the other Great Divide beers. When I said decent ash and woody aroma, I did not mean the smell hit me in the nose, I simply meant that I could smell those flavors. Actually, the beer smells more like a stout rather than a porter. A decent black appearance; this was nothing special in regards to appearance. The head was also lacking the chocolate color that I love to see on porters and stouts. Very thin beer. The palate kind of sucks, but the ash flavor and the wood taste are pretty good. No presence of hops, and the beer is rather weak. The flavors simply end. Mediocre beer, with a reasonable taste. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Aug 28, 2007 12oz - Aroma of burnt malts, chocolate and stale coffee. Pours dark brown with red highlights, a medium head and good lacing. Flavor matches aroma with a grassy malt aftertaste that finishes milky and stale. Palate is creamy and a little thin. Not so good. enenalan (21), Linden, New Jersey, USA Aug 24, 2007 Ew. I could tell just by the pour that this was going to be a less than adequate porter. Dark brown and very watery looking. Very thin head that all but vanishes into a film in a few minutes. I had to practically stick my nose in to the glass to get any sort of aroma (which is chocolate, coffee, and malt). As for the flavor-- mmm...rusty nail. Don’t waste your time. ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 21, 2007 Not really a fan of porters. This one is different but I am still not crazy about it. Pours a nice dark chocolate color with a big bubbly foamy tan head. Tastes like burnt coffee and roasted malt. Pretty good but still has that yeasty aftertaste bite that I am not crazy about.
