motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic Feb 6, 2007 rbesg06. bottle at the rover. rich brown colour with a fading beige head. cocoa powder aroma, some treacle sweetness and a dry finish, not as much hop presence as expected SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA Feb 5, 2007 Bottled January 2004: Found this in the back of the cellar, must have slipped my mind for the past three years - whoops. I am pleasantly surprised to find very little oxidation here. Pours a shadowy ruby with a great foamy tawny colored head. Lots of dirty, earthy malts in the nose - rough coffee and bitter chocolates. Strangely enticing. Silky, creamy mouthfeel. The malts are more rounded in the body, displaying a much sweeter profile. Fudgey chocolate and vanilla are most noted. Ends creamy and full - robust in a word. Good stuff even three years later. BOOGIEMAN (3), LUBBOCK, Texas, USA does not count Feb 3, 2007 NICE ROBUST FLAVOR.ENJOYABLE SMOOTH FLAVOR WITH GOOD CHOCOLATY SMOKE FLAVOR.I REALLY WANT TO TRY THE OAK AGED YETI,BUT IT’S NOT AVAILABLE(YET)BUT HAVE BEEN TALKING TO GET IT HERE IN LUBBOCK,TX. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Feb 3, 2007 Very dark brown with an Ok, but quickly disappearing head. The aroma has notes of malt, chocolate and coffee. The flavour is slightly sweet with notes of coffee, licorice and a moderate bitterness. The overall impression is light, but quite nice. It’s easy to drink, and it must be a beginner-friendly porter. 1813 MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Feb 2, 2007 Opaque brown with a medium head. Good lacing. Aroma of bitter, bitter coffee. Taste is much better, with chocolate, coffee and a slight bitterness. Medium++ body. Slightly creamy texture. Medium sweet and lightly bitter. T2Tool (352), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Feb 2, 2007 Poured a real dark brown from a bottle. Nice taste of roasted malts. Had a smokey flavor to it also. Jukkabro (2981), Tampere, Finland Feb 1, 2007 Black colored, little beige head. Sweetness, berries, coffee in rich aroma with oak and mild chocolate. Medium bodied. Flavor is more chocolaty with roastiness and coffee, nuts and sweetness with balancing hops also there. Aftertaste dries conveniently with lasting chocolate. Slightly too thin bodied. LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 29, 2007 Saint Bridget can work her magic on my bathtub any day if this is what she’ll fill it up with. Smokey and roasty all the way. The pour was a dark brown with a light brown head. The aroma was a little weak but the taste made up for it. All roasted malt with a bitter dry aftertaste that stays with you. It’s been some time since I’ve had a porter this smokey. Nice.
