Smokey and roasty all the way. The pour was a dark brown with a light brown head. The aroma was a little weak but the taste made up for it. All roasted malt with a bitter dry aftertaste that stays with you. It’s been some time since I’ve had a porter this smokey. Nice. beerheart (237), Erie, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 28, 2007 This beer pours black with red-amber highlights. Nice lacing that lingers before slowly dissipating. Chocolate and coffee smells are clearly evident, as are hints of roasted malt and floral hops. Feels thick in the mouth. Thin-to-slightly creamy and dry feeling. Tastes of dark chocolate, burnt rye, and mocha. Very rich and yet not too dry but reating the dryness that makes stouts and porters what they are. The beer finishes with a slight hoppy bitterness, fizzy carbonation, and a warm alcohol feel. Very nice example of the porter style. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 18, 2007 12-oz. Pours a deep matte grainy ebony-black. Big thick foamy tan head that leavea decent scattered clingy lace. Humongous chocolatey nose, with some caramel malt in there as well. Assertive but not overbearing attack: medium body, medium carb, some fairly present flavor: chocolate again, biscuit and toast underneath, some mild light hop at the end, just enough to keep it from turning chalky. This is a really nice inoffensive mainstream porter that I’d happily drink all the time, especially if I had made it myself. Not sure if I need to go to the store to buy it, but I’d be psyched to find it on draft. BiochemProf (53), Boone, North Carolina, USA

Nutty, coffee aroma with floral notes as well as a pleasing malty sweetness. Full thick mouthfeel. Mocha milkshake taste. Reminds me a lot of Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout (which I also happen to love). Great beer! DrBeer (777), Danderyd Stockholm, Sweden

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jan 13, 2007 Pours midnight brown w/ medium semi creamy froth w/ beachball spattering. Aromas of charcoal roasted cocoa. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers creates a velvety texture. Robust w/ a dusty charcoal bitterness that settles in the back of the mouth. Generously roasted malts w/ heavy charcoal, leather. Barely soured on the finish. Nice velvety texture throughout the whole sip into the finish leaving your palate parched. Lives up to it’s name for sure. It’s dry but the malts are wet. Highly recommended. Tranquillity (1165), Espoo, Finland

Dark-dark brown, small white head. Taste bitter, but could be more balanced and roasted. Loong bitter finish though. orville (160), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA
