Mouthfeel: This is a medium bodied beer with a slightly watery texture. It starts out a bit bitter and finishes surprisingly smoothly. Not bad, not great. alexanderj (2280), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 9, 2007 Dark brown; hints of read. Offwhite to light brown head. I actually liked the aroma more than most here. Chocolate and malt. Earthy. Can’t believe this is so low; not saying it is amazing, but very solid porter. Dominated by chocolate; but hints of malt and roasted coffee. Would have liked a fuller flavor; maybe a little light for the style. But definitely would drink again. This is an ordinary porter. Quite malty and slightly roasted. Some bitterness in the end. It’s quite enjoyable and complex. Miksu (2240), Jyväskylä, Finland

Sweet, mellow and very pleasant flavor with notes of roasted malts, leather and nuts. The flavor is lightly sweet but dryer than the aroma. The roasted character is comlex with chocolade, leather and nuts. Minerals and roasted malt in the finish. Very pleasant with wide range of roasted aromas and flavors. jazz88 (2239), San Francisco, California, USA

Dark brown color, beneath a big, frothy head, which crackles and snaps. Go ahead and put it up to your ear! Aroma: essence of espresso and chocolate and some smooth spiciness. Taste: very smooth, very mellow, a lasting finish, and an abiding cocoa flavor. Carbonation’s higher than I like. A good porter, but could be better.

One of those beers that I’m not quite sure why I’d never tried it. Deep brown, slight head. Coffee and roast malt aroma. Flavor matched, good balance all around. Nice, if not spectacular.
