A little weaker than usual. Got better as it warmed a little. Flavor is a small step above the aroma with a roasty bitterness. This brewery sure has a thing with adding hops to everything. I don’t mind having a hopped out porter, but all together this came off as slightly metallic yet strangely smooth. Blah. Not bad, not great. I’ll stick with their stouts and IPAs. tronraner (1934), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 17, 2005 Bottle. Pours a deep, amber-hued black with a pillowy tan head. The aroma is mostly chocolate with a touch of roasty malts. There is quite a bit of chocolate in the flavor, too, along with some fresh coffee and roasted malts. There is a finish of very earthy hops. A fine porter, this, though the palate is a bit thin and prickly. AmEricanbrew (1929), orange, California, USA
