Commercial Description:
St. Bridget, a legendary Irish saint, created a sensation by turning her bathwater into beer. What better way to celebrate her worthy miracle than with our zymurgistic tribute to her feat, St. Bridget's Porter. St. Bridget's is a smooth, elegant, and chocolaty brown porter. Brimming with coffee and chocolate characteristics from dark barley malts, St. Bridget's is carefully hopped to provide the perfect complement to its malty robustness.

It’s early for porters. But I saw this in the store and was excited that Great Divide has made its way to COMO. Since I have yet to try the porter, I bought it. Rich. Dark. not as intense as my favorite stouts, but I guess that the point with porters. Reviews here are a bit harsh. It’s the best one out there, but hardly a bad porter.

Nice dark brown pour with a light head. Strong smell of chocolate, toffee and sap. Finish is sweet but not strong. A wonderful drink from a great brewery.

Sampled at the GD tasting at Blacklick Wine and Spirits on 3.26.09. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head. Semi-roasted malt aroma with a bit of chocolate. Malty chocolate flavor with lots of coffee and some hop in the finish. A bit hoppy for a porter, but not too over the top.

Beer pours a clear, very drak red-brown color with a small, tan, frothy, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma is malty with heavy notes of sweet, deeply roasted grain, chocolate and coffee; Heavily hoppy as it warms with notes of resin and pine; Lightly yeasty with a note of damp cellar; Miscellaneous notes of trace smokey peat, garden soil and alfalfa. The flavor was moderately bitter, moderately sweet, moderately acidic with a long, moderate-to-strong bitterness, moderate acidity and a very trace amount of astringency and peaty retros. The body was medium, the texture was watery and the carbonation was average. Speaking of average; that about sums it up.

Bottle: Opaque black body with a small, creamy, lasting, light tan head. Aroma is sweet roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, light coffee. Medium-full bodied, pleasant carbonation, slick and slightly watery mouthfeel. Taste is bittersweet chocolate, burnt chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, sweet malt syrup, and a hint of pine and grassy hops barely discernable.
