| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 21, 2005 Nice black body with a thin cream head on top. Creamy coffee malty aroma. Flavor is pretty tame, it has some coffee feeling as well as the strong malt, but its not that complex of a flavor. The palate is dry and not too enjoyable. Not the best porter I’ve had. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 25, 2006 I got this in Denver last march when I went skiing, so it has been cellared for some time. 12 bottle. Old graphics with a hot ass red head. (I like the old bottle a lot more than the new!) Pours deep, dark red, bordering on black. The beer has a small, khaki head. The aroma is chocolate, vanilla, with bright hops notes and some vegetal characteristics (boiled broccoli). I am suprised the hops are still so fragrant after nearly a year! The taste is milk/dark chocolate and some mild coffee notes initially followed by some hops and more of the vegetal character. I am not sure where the vegetal character is coming from, but it almost seems like a combo of the hops and roastiness. Whereever it comes from, it lessens my enjoyment of the beer. The mouthfeel is nice enough. This is a very good beer except for one flaw and that might be caused by my cellaring, will re-rate and find out. barleyPops (1081), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 7, 2009 This beer was very average. I was expecting more adter seeing this rating of 80. It’s almost like ’porter lite’. Everything from the color to the light mouthfeel to the simple finish. A good porter should be darker, have a strong roasted malt flavor, and a complex palate. This beers lacks any true character. Worth only a sip.
