Commercial Description:
St. Bridget, a legendary Irish saint, created a sensation by turning her bathwater into beer. What better way to celebrate her worthy miracle than with our zymurgistic tribute to her feat, St. Bridget's Porter. St. Bridget's is a smooth, elegant, and chocolaty brown porter. Brimming with coffee and chocolate characteristics from dark barley malts, St. Bridget's is carefully hopped to provide the perfect complement to its malty robustness.

Poured a dark black color with red edges. Aroma was of roasted chocolate and coffee. Flavor was nice blend of coffee chocolate and smokeiness to it. Mouthfeel was a tad on the thin side but overall i was a fan.

12 fl. oz. bottle from BOTW (Rochester), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. AU29/08.

App.: Very deep brown-black with ruby highlights and a nice light tan head. Aroma: Black coffee, dark chocolate, slightly grapey and fruity, slightly ashen. Palate: Medium body and very soft carbonation. Flav.: Some black coffee and dark chocolate, slightly fruity, some ashen burnt sugar, dry with moderate bitterness and a fairly long burnt sugar/dark chocolate aftertaste.

A bit simple, but tasty.

Bottle. Dark ruby, almost black, firm beige head. Roasted, mint chocolate aroma, very full and smooth. Same roasted, minty flavor, chocolate, coffee, little liquorice, really nice. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. A good little brother to Yeti, same chocolatey mint.

Got this from Norm’s in Vienna VA. Pours a deep dark brown with a thin tan head, with some lacing around the glass. Nice strong aroma. Roasted malt, sweet milky chocolate, and a hint of some coffee. Rather nice. The taste didn’t live up to the expecation. Kind of watered down, and faint roasted malt and chocolate flavors. Overall not too bad, and it has all the making to be a great porter. Almost there!

Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head that dissapears quickly. Aroma is pretty light with roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, slight hint of dark fruits. Flavor starts off a linger stronger then I thought it would from the aroma. Begins with the roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee. Finishes with some dark fruit and molasses and a slight bitterness that came from nowhere. An okay porter but not really that great.

Bottle. Dark brown body, large rich light tan head, bready nose with some espresso notes. Astringent, perhaps from the carbonation, dark breads, a hint of chocolate and coffee, dry, minimal finish, somewhat thin.

Bottled January 2004: Found this in the back of the cellar, must have slipped my mind for the past three years - whoops. I am pleasantly surprised to find very little oxidation here. Pours a shadowy ruby with a great foamy tawny colored head. Lots of dirty, earthy malts in the nose - rough coffee and bitter chocolates. Strangely enticing. Silky, creamy mouthfeel. The malts are more rounded in the body, displaying a much sweeter profile. Fudgey chocolate and vanilla are most noted. Ends creamy and full - robust in a word. Good stuff even three years later.
