| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 31, 2005 12 oz bottle. Deep dark garnet/black beer with a light brown head. Sweet malty aroma, toasted malt, heavy chocolate aroma, complex salty licorice aroma with strong earthy notes, toast and caramel. Flavour is well balanced with sweet caramel up front leading into a nice bittersweet chocolate in the middle before a toasty finish rounds it up. A nice authentic porter. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 28, 2003 Deep amber color, light enough that amble light is allowed through. Head was off-white with large bubbles, but generally small. Aroma of caramel and eggs; quite unpleasent. This porter has a particularily nasty 'eggy' taste to it, with other flavors of flour tortillas and bad fruit. This has to be the worst porter I've ever tasted, and I almost feel bad to say it because the porter style is so well-liked. I just can't stand drinking eggs. I tried this in a tasting along side porters such as Full Sail Half Pipe, Avery New World, and Left Hand Black Jack, so it's possible that the reason I find this one so low is the quality of the others. yngwie (4974), Kristiansand, Norway
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 1, 2006 Bottled. Dark, reddish-brown and clear-looking porter with a beige head. Berries, raspberries, orange, chocolat, hops and a medicine-like note in the aroma. Orange, chocolate, berries and bittering hops in the flavor, which is finished off with a citrus-like bitterness. Medium body. A quite special porter, but very nice. (060616) Cornfield (4957), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 9, 2005 Updated: Sep 29, 2005This poured a deep, dark brown with a one-fingered light brown head. The coffee comes across first in the aroma, followed rapidly by the chocolate and later by roasted barley. This is very creamy in the mouth, soothing to the tongue and throat. Tastes of burnt chocolate and roasted malts with a hint of malt sweetness. The finish is a combo of coffee and light hopping. Quite tasty. This is definitely a brewery to keep an eye on.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Oct 29, 2003 Deep mohagany color with a moderate dark antler colored head. Sweet toffee and roasted malt nose. Mocha and dark tosted marble rye bread flavors. A small nip of hop acids on the tongue, near citrus like, make this one seems thin and sharp. Nice flavors. Just read some other reviews, and see rich, round, full, and round all used in talking about the body - did they change the recipe? jbrus (4882), Delft, Netherlands

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 24, 2003 Pours not quite opaque (haha sham) but a dark mahogany color. Off-white head with no lacing. Aroma is lightly sweet with raisins then full of bitter chocolate. Flavor is full of coffee and raspberry chocolate. Finishes bitter and metallic, not good. Very drinkable porter though, Thanks TTB!
