Commercial Description:
St. Bridget, a legendary Irish saint, created a sensation by turning her bathwater into beer. What better way to celebrate her worthy miracle than with our zymurgistic tribute to her feat, St. Bridget's Porter. St. Bridget's is a smooth, elegant, and chocolaty brown porter. Brimming with coffee and chocolate characteristics from dark barley malts, St. Bridget's is carefully hopped to provide the perfect complement to its malty robustness.

12 oz bottle. Deep purple-black, clear but vary dark. Thick caramel-latte head, lasting. Bitter and sweet chocolates in the nose, hints of caramel and old pine boards. Rich chocolate front on the tongue, turning moderately bitter, espresso-inflected late..not as much body as it could have, but full and rich enough to be a good drinkable porter.

Deep brown-red. Nose is quite roasty, has plenty of hops. Roasty flavor, some raisin character mixes with coffee-esque bitterness. Nicely drinkable, not watery but still was quite quaffable. Nice stuff.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate), lightly hoppy (flowers, grapefruit), with light notes of tobacco and minerals. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. A pleasant, straightforward American-style porter. The tartness is just slightly strong (only thing keeping it from an 8 flavor score), but overall it’s a solid brew.

When asked what gift she would give her Saviour, could she give Him anything, the intrepid St. Brigid replied ’a lake of beer ...’ or so the Irish story goes. She may well have meant this namesake beer: a decent blend of coffee and Goldings, with a bit of a watery body. Slainte!

Rich, dark brown, almost black color with a good puffy sand-colored head. Light roasted aroma with subtle malty undertones. Flavor is subtle, roasted coffee, caramel and pine spinkled with dark chocolate. Body could be a touch thicker. A good, well-balanced porter, but not rich or complex enough to be top-notch.

Nice porter. Moderate roasted flavors blended with medium sweetness. A nice hop balance, but a bit thin in body. Would make a good "session porter".

bottle-this was a pretty good porter-nothing to write home about other than the excellent aroma-lots of carbonatino for a porter IMO, but still a good standby brew!
