Commercial Description:
St. Bridget, a legendary Irish saint, created a sensation by turning her bathwater into beer. What better way to celebrate her worthy miracle than with our zymurgistic tribute to her feat, St. Bridget's Porter. St. Bridget's is a smooth, elegant, and chocolaty brown porter. Brimming with coffee and chocolate characteristics from dark barley malts, St. Bridget's is carefully hopped to provide the perfect complement to its malty robustness.

Interesting nose, complex, with the dark grains highlighted and dark fruits with chocolate, coffee, and rich dark soil present to. Pours with a nice tan foamy head that somewhat disipates. Not quite as much taste as aroma, but has a quenching quality that also wants you to have another swallow. Not overdone. Nice very dark brownish red. Got it a beer a the month shipment although they have other great divide beers at Bodega downtown.

Poured a dark black color with red edges. Aroma was of roasted chocolate and coffee. Flavor was nice blend of coffee chocolate and smokeiness to it. Mouthfeel was a tad on the thin side but overall i was a fan.

Bottle. Poured a clear deep ruby with just a little caramelly head. Surprisingly, the first things to hit the nose were citrus hops. They were nicely complemented by deep roasted coffee and chocolate. Medium-bodied with a lot of chocolate and citrus hops in the flavor. Slightly oily yet creamy and smooth on the palate. Baker’s chocolate finish provided by the chocolate malt and the nice hop presence. Very tasty brew.

This beer pours a dark ruby brown that leaves a frothy tan head, and some yeast at the bottom of the glass where the light can penetrate. I can smell the aromas of chocolate, sugar, hops, caramel candy, and just the slight presence of alcohol before I stuck my nose in the glass. The nose is so sweet, melted brown sugar and butter I can’t wait to see what this has to offer. As I put this porter on my palate at almost room temp to allow all those flavors to come out I get a bombardment of flavors. Chocolate, tangy hop flavors, the brew starts with a bready feel on the palate. It then gives you to a sweet chocolate bitterness and finishes somewhat watery. I paired this beer with a grilled steak topped with grilled avacado and a side of steamed green beans topped with fried onions, fantastic.

12 oz. bottle. Pours very dark brown, nice and clear with deep red hues when held to the light. Dark tan, thin, 1 cm. head that drops quickly to foam. Ends up in a ring, little lacing. Immediately get coffee, espresso, and chocolate in the aroma. Some roasty malts. A little hoppy crispness and a little spice. Flavor is of coffee and roasty malts with a fairly sharp hoppy bite to balance it out. But, overall roasty maltiness. Chocolate comes through more as it warms. Palate is medium, a little creamy, and smooth on the tongue. Then a higher level of carbonation helps provide a crisp, clean finish. O’all this is a really good porter. There is plenty of roasty malt character, but also plenty of hop bitterness and a nice medium, creamy mouthfeel. Tasty.

Bottled. Dark brown color with small creamy head. Sweet, mellow and very pleasant flavor with notes of roasted malts, leather and nuts. The flavor is lightly sweet but dryer than the aroma. The roasted character is comlex with chocolade, leather and nuts. Minerals and roasted malt in the finish. Very pleasant with wide range of roasted aromas and flavors.

Poured a real dark brown from a bottle. Nice taste of roasted malts. Had a smokey flavor to it also.

Another attempt in my quest to drink most Colorado beers. This poured inky black with a tan head. It smelled like coffee and tasted like chalky cocoa and roasted malts. Yummy stuff from one of my favorite breweries here in Denver. This was a very solid porter. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-26-2007 03:43:57
