This poured inky black with a tan head. It smelled like coffee and tasted like chalky cocoa and roasted malts. Yummy stuff from one of my favorite breweries here in Denver. This was a very solid porter.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 20, 2006 Poured from the bottle into an English pint. Aroma is bitter chocolate, lots of hazelnut, some of the ever-present coffee. Poured nicely, very thing quickly-dissolving head; not much lacing to speak of. Taste reflects the smell, strong chocolate and coffee, a bit of heavy smoke, nutty finish. Overall, a pretty decent porter...I agree, its not as "robust" as advertised, but the flavor is exceptional for such a light porter. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 29, 2007 Saint Bridget can work her magic on my bathtub any day if this is what she’ll fill it up with. Smokey and roasty all the way. The pour was a dark brown with a light brown head. The aroma was a little weak but the taste made up for it. All roasted malt with a bitter dry aftertaste that stays with you. It’s been some time since I’ve had a porter this smokey. Nice. BiochemProf (53), Boone, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 16, 2007 2-finger foamy tan head atop a very dark brown pour. Nutty, coffee aroma with floral notes as well as a pleasing malty sweetness. Full thick mouthfeel. Mocha milkshake taste. Reminds me a lot of Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout (which I also happen to love). Great beer! puggy211 (591), cordova, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 21, 2009 Nearly opaque brown-black with a medium and mostly lasting head. Aroma of chocolate pine. Flavor has smoked pine hop with cocoa and molasses, raisins, some scorched brown sugar and toasted marshmallow. Wow! Finish is excellent: tingly-bitter herb hops balancing all the malt complexity. Palate is medium-heavy and tingly with both hops and carbonation. Almost a stout with some extra hops; very nice! Way underrated explosivebeer (36), Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 29, 2008 This beers pours a nice deep deep reddish-brown color with a decent tan head that resolves to a thin layer of bubbles. It has a nice bready, malty, chocolatey aroma. The flavor is full of malty goodness with caramel and chocolate most prevalent. The aftertaste lingers with a pleasant sweetness. I’ll definitely get this beer again. brenn79 (210), Idaho, USA

Taste is great, good coffee and chocolate flavors and has a very dry finish. Overall this is a very good if not great porter.
