agillespie81 (106), Denver, Colorado, USA May 7, 2008 Extremely dark brown......opaque. Thick, creamy head, though it fades a bit fast. Somewhat sweet, mild malt aroma. Roasted malt notes in the front......very smooth mouthfeel. Back is filled with hints of sweet chocolate and a slightly dry finish.
malrubius (451), USA Oct 7, 2008 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Dark brown with ring head and lace. Sweet chocolate aroma. Sweet mild chocolate flavor. Hops seem to have faded away due to lack of freshness. Just checked date code. Best before June/July 2004. Nice. Well, extra points for having a date. Wish I had looked before I bought. Are the distributors supposed to get this stuff off the shelves? probstk (688), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Oct 7, 2008 12 fl. oz. bottle from BOTW (Rochester), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. AU29/08.
App.: Very deep brown-black with ruby highlights and a nice light tan head.
Aroma: Black coffee, dark chocolate, slightly grapey and fruity, slightly ashen.
Palate: Medium body and very soft carbonation.
Flav.: Some black coffee and dark chocolate, slightly fruity, some ashen burnt sugar, dry with moderate bitterness and a fairly long burnt sugar/dark chocolate aftertaste.
A bit simple, but tasty. gringo332 (96), Richardson, Texas, USA Oct 2, 2008 Everything about this porter was just kind of normal. It had a good dark color with brown head and a simple chocolate flavor to it. explosivebeer (35), Washington, USA Sep 29, 2008 This beers pours a nice deep deep reddish-brown color with a decent tan head that resolves to a thin layer of bubbles. It has a nice bready, malty, chocolatey aroma. The flavor is full of malty goodness with caramel and chocolate most prevalent. The aftertaste lingers with a pleasant sweetness. I’ll definitely get this beer again. Fin (2348), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Sep 28, 2008 Had this at the Orsted cafe/bar, Kobenhaven 13-09-08 cheers to Ian (Harrisoni) and Casper (Ethereal) for sharing this Poured very dark brown with a nice tan head, felt nice in the mouth, light hops, some coffee and cocoa powder, moreish beer that was really quite uncomplicated.
