Commercial Description:
Great Divide brews Titan IPA for hop disciples -- independent beer drinkers seeking out robust, flavorful beers characterized by their abundance of hops, flavor, aroma and bitterness. As a big aggressively-hopped India Pale Ale, Titan IPA fills this bill -- beginning with piney hop aromas and citrus hop flavors, and finishing with a rich, malty sweetness that is carefully balanced with crisp hop bitterness. 65 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Having become so accustomed to the strength of DIPAs, I was expecting to be underwhelmed by this effort from GD. I ended up very much enjoying it. Pours a light coppery amber, with a good head and great lacing. Aroma has piney hops and caramel malts, and the flavor follows suit, adding a slightly nutty note. Crisp, clean, but full-bodied. A lot of IPAs fail to pull through on their promises of a malty finish and aftertaste - this one does not. It might even be a little too malty. When I’m going for a sixer of something, I’d take this any day of the week.

Huge aroma of piney and citrusy hops greet you when you open this bottle, unless of course it’s the one bottle out of these six that was infected and smelled and tasted like vinegar. That was just about the damndest thing I ever ran into with a bottle of beer. When you get a good bottle though the hop taste is potent and leves you feeling like you’ve visited one of our wonderful pine forests out here in the Pacific Northwest. Very tasty brew.

Nov 11, 2008. Bottle. Pours clear, amber, with a thin beige head, good lacing. Smells of pine resin and hay. Medium, crisp, dry body. A bit fruity and slightly sweet at first, turning into pine and grapefruit, with a lingering bitter aftertaste.

A strong citrus hop aroma and beautiful copper color make this look and smell like a prime example of the style. The flavor backs up the appearance and aroma with plenty of malt and a light residual sweetness to back up the moderately high bitterness (65 IBUs). Finishes slightly dry and leaves a memory of the hop flavor on the palate, begging you to have another sip. Great IPA overall and highly recommended.

Bottle. Pours amber/bronze with white head, good lacing. Aroma is sweet citrus hops. Flavor is citrus and pine from hops with bitter finish that lingers just long enough.

Orange with large particles on the bottom and floating, smells hoppy and of citrus. Taste is hoppy with spicy citrus, not too sweet. I’ll drink again.
