Commercial Description:
Great Divide brews Titan IPA for hop disciples -- independent beer drinkers seeking out robust, flavorful beers characterized by their abundance of hops, flavor, aroma and bitterness. As a big aggressively-hopped India Pale Ale, Titan IPA fills this bill -- beginning with piney hop aromas and citrus hop flavors, and finishing with a rich, malty sweetness that is carefully balanced with crisp hop bitterness. 65 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Bottle from trade. This one smelled great and tasted awesome on the first sip. Unfortunately as the beer warmed, the palate fell apart, leaving an almost skunky flavor. It got half-way to great for me.

This beer had a great look to it and it is a quality made beer. It was a decent IPA but it was almost watery tasting and it was very surprising and disappointing to me. A good IPA but not a great one.

Just had this as part of my pick six at my local shop. It poured a classic hazy IPA amber, with very good head and lacing. The aroma, as well as the flavor was very balanced, with equal parts sweetness, and malt. I really enjoyed this beer’s drinkability, and smoothness. Very good impression from Great Divide. Cheers!

Draught at EBF08. Good caramelly hop aroma. Almost clear amber colour. Good hop flavour, caramelly and grassy. Medium to high bitterness, cleansing. A bit sweet but of course balanced by the hops.

Bottle. Very much my thing, enjoyed it. Smells like a cup of tea. Looks tasty in the glass, orangey goldy ambery. Certainly hoppy but that always flys my kite. Nice finish. Cheers, would like to drink again if I could get hold of it.

Bottle courtesy of sloth. Pours a clear orange with a thick, foamy white head. Aroma of bitter piney and citrusy hops. Flavor of a hint of pine, but mostly citrusy. A little on the bitter side but still quite tasty and drinkable. 7/4/8/4/14 Ɠ.7/5)

Update 8/29/09: Light fruits and citrus in this one with lots of caramel malt. Bitterness in the finish but I wouldn’t say that this is on the bitter side (contrary to above). Very nice IPA, very chill drinking. Would make an awesome sessioner. 7/4/8/4/15 Ɠ.8/5)

Bottle. Aroma of floral (including a unique herbal grassiness) and more notably grapefruit hop notes. Flavor big on oily hops with a malt that is as sweet as the hops are oily. Quite bitter though, especially in the finish. Hops also a touch harsh at times, but doesn’t detract from the beer for me. Very tasty. 8-4-7-4-15/3.8

Rerate 8/29/09. Bottle. Aroma of grapefruit, peach, hay, pure and fresh hop leaves. Flavor of lots of tropical fruit and bitter hop notes with smooth caramelly malt. Quenchingly dry. My memory of this beer was better than my 3.8 rating, and my memory was (for once) dead on.

On tap: pours copper color. Caramel and hop aroma. Slight caramel malt that is overpowered by hops. Good beer, but I am not the biggest fan of Great Divide’s hop profile. To me the profile and hop dryness seems heavy and wet. I prefer it to be crisp and dry. Like Russian River or Avery.
