Commercial Description:
Great Divide's mantra is that real fruit makes real beer, so Great Divide ferments Wild Raspberry Ale with hundreds of pounds of real red and black raspberries. Wild Raspberry Ale is a truly effervescent, ruby red ale that achieves the almost impossible balance between malted barley and tart raspberry fruitiness. Its naturally tart character makes Wild Raspberry the ultimate accompaniment to spicy Mexican food or on its own as a stand-alone session beer.

From a bottle poured ark ruby color with lots of head. Nice raspberry flavor with a quick finish.

Pours with a foamy off-white head. Redish clear, body. Aroma of berry, honey, wheat, hay and dirt. Taste is slightly metallicy, astringent wheat, with berries in the back. Fizzy and dry.

This is underrated: Pours a reddish almost burgundy color, good head retention that leaves a thin yet sturdy lace behind, semi tart raspberry nose, clean aroma, smooth mouth feel with a thin malt palate, light tart raspberry flavor, malt stays thin as well as the hop bitterness but this helps the fruit to shine, drying grain and tart raspberry finish off the brew, a well done fruit ale.

Blush color, mainly red with sunny oranges on the edges. THin ring of big, white bubbles. Smells of cherry/rasberry malt, somewhat lactic, along with caramel and taffy, burnt sugar flavors. Taste is rather bad; it begins with sweet, sour and acidic berries. Thin, watery body. Aftertaste comes much later and is cherries, blueberries and wheat.

Initially it was pretty good. It starts to taste watered down halfway though. Not a lot of head. A little tart, not that bad for a fruit beer.

Bottle sample at brewery Tap Room, Denver, CO, 8/12/08. Pours amber with little head, slight pink hues. Nose is all raspberry mixed with a slight caramel malt note. Taste is bread, raspberry with no real bitterness. Slight bitter, tannic character. Dry as all get out. Not a bad fruit beer.

12 ounce bottle from By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured an amber-brownish body with a medium off-white head. Fresh berry nose that was superior to artificially flavored others. Crisp, cereal with a mild tartness perhaps from the fruit. Excellent fruit beer. Quenching, subtle, and well built.

Bottle from Papago. I should give this one another shot. Beautiful tart nose and pink ruby color, but I just wasn’t mad about the flavor. I din’t think the balance was there, and between the initial berry sharpness and the malt, there is another sourness that I couldn’t place or reconcile. Almost like fruit starting to turn, but nothing that drastic I’m sure. Curious.
