Commercial Description:
Great Divide's mantra is that real fruit makes real beer, so Great Divide ferments Wild Raspberry Ale with hundreds of pounds of real red and black raspberries. Wild Raspberry Ale is a truly effervescent, ruby red ale that achieves the almost impossible balance between malted barley and tart raspberry fruitiness. Its naturally tart character makes Wild Raspberry the ultimate accompaniment to spicy Mexican food or on its own as a stand-alone session beer.

pours a rich golden color with reddish tints and a pink/white head. aroma of fresh raspberries and citrus...the citrus smell may just be the lively carbonation though...flavor is frozen raspberries. the kind with citric acid and preservatives added. there’s a little malt flavor but that’s about it. very tart and refreshing beer that pairs well with pork...

On tap at Mad Mex Robinson-not much good to say about this one. Pour was a dark brown with no head. Aroma was faint berries and sticky malt. Taste was weak. Acidic and faint...can’t really taste much. Not in the berries or anything else. I like this brewer, but they should’ve either put more effort into this or skipped it.

Somewhat bitter hoppy raspberry aroma. Redish hued color. Flavor is a little bitter and too acidic kind of soap, with the slightest hint of raspberry. Was never very fond of supposed fruit beers.

great aroma, like a sweet red with a little foreshadowing of fruit. too sweet and one dimensional, not balanced well with the fruit.

A nice raspberry and dark fruit aroma greeted me while pouring. Color is medium dark brown and a smallish white head topped this fruit beer. This style always sounds so appetizing but rarely is. Mouth feel is medium and smooth with a bit of acid. Not a lot of life to it, though. The tip of the tongue is stimulated. Malt flavors are underneath the fruit and some spice can be found as well.

A good fruit beer. Pretty light on the raspberries. More like an ale with some raspberries.

Ah, what can we learn from fruit beers? Mostly that they are very difficult to pull off and rarely taste as good as they sound. This is no exception, although a fair brew by fruit beer terms. Pours a dark, deep reddish amber. The raspberry isn’t too tart and finishes well.
