Commercial Description:
Great Divide's mantra is that real fruit makes real beer, so Great Divide ferments Wild Raspberry Ale with hundreds of pounds of real red and black raspberries. Wild Raspberry Ale is a truly effervescent, ruby red ale that achieves the almost impossible balance between malted barley and tart raspberry fruitiness. Its naturally tart character makes Wild Raspberry the ultimate accompaniment to spicy Mexican food or on its own as a stand-alone session beer.

Pick your six from Liquid town. Obvious rasp which I didn’t like at all. I almost poured but decided it was worth another chance. Don’t like the fruit.

12oz Bottle @ Coles Buffalo Ny. Full raspberry flavor in this reddish amber brew. Decent raspberry flavor not overly perfumy like most are. For the style- pretty good.

Pours w/ an amber burgundy color w/ a medium sized semi creamy froth that recedes to reveal a full silky canopy and a nice full ring of lace. Aroma of malted raspberries. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. Nice raspberry extraction w/ no sweetness. I like this brew. Finish is lingering w/ a nice bittering. No offensive nuances at all. I would recommend this beer.

The color was thin and a light orange/red color. The head was very thin, fizzy and very pale pink. The aroma interesting in that it had a cereal smell to it. There were hints of raspberry as well. The flavor was not as sweet as I had expected. It tasted like soggy, raspberry serial. The flavor was lacking. The palate was thin and fizzy. The finish was abrupt.

Bottle: Not overwhelming. Good balance for a fruit beer. Poured golden with small offwhite head. Some malt and carbonation. OK for a fruit beer.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass, deep amber with a medium light tan head. The smell is all rapsberry with a note of malt. The taste is very thin though. Not much raspberry coming through, mainly just some sweet malt and carbonation. Not as good as I expected.

The Wild Raspberry Ale pours a cloudy dark amber color and settles a clear rich mahogany body. The medium white fizzy head was full diminishing without any lacing. The nose detected a strong bread malt aroma with an overwhelming raspberry presence. The nose was pleased and reminded of the Harpoon Raspberry UFO. Initially light acidic taste quickly moved into a light sweet taste for a long duration on the palate. It was light and watery in body with lively carbonation and left the palate very dry. The raspberry presence wasn’t as strong on the palate as to the nose.

Oh, it smells amazing – Ian. It smells like a Raspberry Newton. The raspberry aroma was very dominant, while the raspberry taste wasn’t as strong - Sean. Reviewed on January 11th, 2007.

A 12oz bottle with a month and week made on notching on the label. The beer poured a good looking raspberry red body with a small tan/red head. The smell was of malt and mild berries. The taste was a good mix of malt and the berries with a little bite of hops. Carbonation was good but poor lacing. Not one of my favorites.
