Commercial Description:
Great Divide's mantra is that real fruit makes real beer, so Great Divide ferments Wild Raspberry Ale with hundreds of pounds of real red and black raspberries. Wild Raspberry Ale is a truly effervescent, ruby red ale that achieves the almost impossible balance between malted barley and tart raspberry fruitiness. Its naturally tart character makes Wild Raspberry the ultimate accompaniment to spicy Mexican food or on its own as a stand-alone session beer.

12 oz bottle from Canal’s. Pours a mostly amber with slight lavender hue sitting underneath a huge light colored lavender foamy head. Aroma is slightly chalky with notes of chocolate, bread and caramel malts with a strong background raspberries and sugar. Body is horendous with a totally fizzy full mouthfeel like someone threw pop rocks into a coffe/raspbery ginger ale combo and your trying to sip all the head up so it doesn’t spill on grandma’s good rug. The flavor starts off with some dried out malts and then there is a burst of stale raspberry followed up with some chocolate malts and brown toast. This is a fruit beer after all so I should have known it wasn’t going to be any good.

bottle from Great Divide mix pack... pours a brilliant red with a quarter inch white head... mild aromas of raspberry and light malted barley... medium body with a gentle amount of raspberry that brings the fruit forward in the flavor but does not dominate the beer to death... it is well balanced and drinks pretty easy... although it is a bit sweet... wouldn’t want more than 1. light tart finish ... would like some more. overall a nice fruit beer....

355 ml bottle at Volo. Pours a cloudy dark red with a small white head. Mild aroma of tart raspberry. Fairly prominent malt profile in the flavour, hint of alcohol and lingering tart raspberry finish. Fine I guess but really pretty boring.

Shared 12 oz. bottle with my fruit beer loving better half. Poured a hazy, reddish amber with a slightly pink shaded, off white, overly foamy head and web-like lacing. The aroma was candy sweetness and fruit as raspberry. The flavor was again sweet raspberry candy, slight tartness, and low carbonation, which was probably wasted in the head. Okay as Fruit Ales go.

12 oz bottle. Mild nose, expecting full berry and not getting much. Nice reddish color. Underplayed raspberry taste. Not particularly remarkable, but a very tolerable fruit beer.

12 oz. bottle from Fries Cafe in Cincinnati. Pours clear deep red with pinkish off white head. Raspberry and wheat on the nose and in the flavor. Also a little malt and hops flavor. Light body, and a bit tart. Sweet, with a dry finish.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear cherry red color with a slim head that quickly dissolves, leaving no lacing. Aroma is dominated by sweet raspberries and other tart fruit with a slight touch of hops. Nicely balancd with sweet, sour and malty notes as well as a tart berry presence. A little syrupy but not too sweet with a slight bitter dry hoppy finish.

Draught @ BBF - Another brew that fell victim to mishandled kegs and taps, but I’ll keep those factors out...Pours a reddish amber with a small white head...aroma is berry and some grain, sweetness...flavour is light and watery, wheat and raspberry, but not in abundance...flavour was fairly weak and did not stick around, not sweet or tart either, but just there...a good note was that it didn’t taste artificially flavoured, which definitely scores points...
