Commercial Description:
Great Divide's mantra is that real fruit makes real beer, so Great Divide ferments Wild Raspberry Ale with hundreds of pounds of real red and black raspberries. Wild Raspberry Ale is a truly effervescent, ruby red ale that achieves the almost impossible balance between malted barley and tart raspberry fruitiness. Its naturally tart character makes Wild Raspberry the ultimate accompaniment to spicy Mexican food or on its own as a stand-alone session beer.

Pours out of the bottle like colored champagne. bubbly, huge foam head that quickly dissipates to a few fizzy bubbles, with high cabronation overrall. the color, however, is not champagne but instead a reddish-orange raspberry shade, w/ a base of a light pecan brown. The aroma is pungent. you can definetely distinguish b/w the black and red raspberry contributions to the conconction basked in scents of grass and earthiness. However, in contrast to the bold, promising smells, the taste is dried out, flat and unsatisfying as if a single shrivelled raspberry was left in a glass of water for a few hours. I was expecting a burst of berry flavor in my mouth but instead received droplets of medicore fruit punch. As you keep tasting the blandness does develop into a stronger, sourer, fruitier blend but the "ring around the edges" (literally) in every sip tastes like dirtied, soap-sudded dish water. This fell well below my hopeful expectations....

Pours a clear cranberry color with a light head that faded quickly. Has a light berry aroma. Has a light berry flavor with a slight tart finish. Light to medium body. Wortha try.

Robe dorée aux reflets rouges. Arômes de malt. Saveurs de framboises. Pas très spectaculaire...

12oz bottle. Pours reddish brown with a thick lasting pinkish head. Aroma of raspberry and strawberry with malty undertones. Taste is of yeast and raspberry with underlying maltiness. Thick palate with a balanced finish. Amazing beer, and relatively cheap too..

A different beer. I talked my girlfriend into trying this instead of the usual Smirnoff Rasberry. A good Ale with a strong Raspeberry aftertaste. Nothing special but a well made beer for what they are trying to do. Unfortunately fruit beers are not really my style.

Bottle. Amber rudy color, clear. Kinda muddled malt and raspberry aroma and flavors. The malts were a bit toasty, and the berry was present but not overwelming. Kinda average. My problem with this beer is that, for beer afficiandos, this beer is loose and the berries are very detracting. For people who like fruit beers, the fruits are not big, and not fruity enough. Leaves you with this middle-of-the-road fruit beer that probably won’t wow anyone.

Bottled 1st week of December, presumably 2005; probably a little past its prime. Sweet malty berry aroma; promising. Beautiful ruby amber color. Not very often you get this hue in a beer. Slightly off white head, thin. There’s a cloudiness to the body. Attractive brew. Flavor is nice. A little on the thin side. Fruit beers are a slippery slope. On the one hand, it’s tough to please the beer geeks with this genre. And you can’t make it too sweet, or you’ll lose your male audience, most of whom you already lost with the word "berry". I love raspberries, and this brew is a worthy effort. However, it’s a little thin to me, and a little too dry. Where raspberry tart is the standard, this does fall short. But, I’m sure Great Divide was going for a larger audience than just those willing to plunk down $10 for a large bottle. Underrated.

This bottled brew marked best before 6/2002 was sampled on 4/17/2006 and poured a medium sized head of foam under a frothy top of off-white colored fine to large sized mostly diminishing bubbles that left behind a slightly hazy carbonated brown colored body and a fair lacing mild raspberry malt mixture. The mouth feel was tingly from start to finish with a lingering raspberry aftertaste. The flavor left a strange raspberry malt feeling in my mouth that was not to much to my liking.
