Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

2005 bottle courtesy of Retorp. Pours a dark brown to black color with a thin tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of wood, smoke, coffee, ripe dark fruits, some smoke and roasted overtones. Flavor is malty, sweet and full of roasted chocolate and coffee notes with notes of ripe dark fruit, molasses, hints of tobacco and toffee. Generally medium body with a pleasing chocolate and coffee finish.

330 mL. Pours pitch black with a small dark tan head that thins out to a layer. Fairly good lacing through the drink. Nose of black licorice, cocoa powder, alcohol, tobacco, faint coffee. Taste has some warming alcohol up front with good balancing hops to cover the 9.5% Lots of roasted malt and espresso flavors as well. Aftertaste is bitter, long, and dry. Some oily mouth coating. Slightly acidic and alcoholic for my tastes.

’05 bottle courtesy of retorp. pours deep black with tan beige head, nice golden lacing. aroma has a good forward nose of malts, roastiness mixed with swirl of chocolate goodness. Taste dark roasted malts, chocolate, light notes of the coffee. Hop profile remained fairly subtle. Really good stuff.

2005 bottle thanks to retorp. Pours dark black with a great tan head. Lots of yellow lacing upon swirling. Aroma is whiskey, chocolate, lots of roasted malt and noticeable alcohol. Flavor is same with big chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and coffee. Nice, and disctinctly different from barrel-aged brother.

2005 bottle, courtesy Degarth. Pitch black pour, huge creamy tan head and tons of lacing. Huge roast in the nose, some alcoholic heat, caramel and slight oak, despite not being oak-aged. Huge chocolate flavors, roasted coffee in the finish, deep elements of caramel. Very smooth. Creamy medium-body, extremely good and smooth.
