IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Jan 9, 2009 Poured a dark black with a fizzy/frothy brown head. Faint aroma of some dark fruits, some tobacco, and some roasty chocolate. Flavor follows but feels more complex than the aroma, with some bitter roasted chocolate, some dark coffee, some sweet pipe tobacco, with a dry finish that is only mildly alocholic. Touch of acidity in the fruit flavor. Not sure if that’s an intended flavor or due to the years I’ve held on to this in my cellar.

Hoppy notes with citrus and some spruce in the aroma. Bitter from the hops, with some bitter chocolate malts, toasty and roasty. Oily palate. Flavor clings. KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jan 3, 2009 22 oz. bottle. Dark black pour with a large, frothy dark tan head. Aroma of chocolate and piney hops. Creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is nice and bitter, with hints of chocolate, roasted coffee, and burnt notes. Finish is bitter with dark fruit undertones. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 30, 2008 22 oz. bottle - side by side with the oak and BA versions; jet black with quickly fading tan head; heavy on the bitterness with huge coffee aromas; drinks dry and sweet; plenty of chocolate, but coffee dominates and the hops add to that bitterness; very nice overall, but not quite as smooth as the oaked version and much more enjoyable than the BA version mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA Dec 29, 2008 Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout is a black beer with a cloud-like mocha head. The aroma is fantastic with notes of coffee, chocolate and tons of roasted malt. The flavor is a perfect copy of the aroma. This beer packs a very large punch of bitter hops and is well balanced while pushing all of the limits. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Dec 29, 2008 Great near black pour with dark brown head. Sweet lactic malty aroma, with light bitter chocolate and some oakey wood. Flavor is roasty medium chocolate with some bitterness and abv on the finish. Medium full body is creamy and chalky. Very enjoyable. EricE (446), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Dec 19, 2008 Thick pour with a dark tan head. Chocolaty aroma with cherries, wine and alcohol. Bitter alcohol and hops. Coffee grounds. Some sweet chocolate. A tad harsh and this bottle has been aged a year. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Dec 17, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a straight black body with a finger width, creamy, dark brown head. Dissipates at a moderate speed and remains lacy on the glass with a nice swirl left on the surface. Aroma is dominated by rich caramels and toffees. Definitely more sweet than bitter. There is a nice nose of lightly roasted malts, vanilla, chocolate, and a touch of bitter hops and coffee. Some sweet liquor or whiskey aroma too. Taste is hoppy bitter and roasty. Sweet and rich up front flavors of caramel and toffee then nicely balances into a vanilla and chocolate middle before ending piney bitter, roasty, and slightly boozy. More of that whiskey booze taste too in the end leaving a warm feeling in my chest. Full bodied, extremely smooth velvety feel, and a dry, moderately bitter finish. Overall, a fantastic imperial stout. Excellent balance, lots of taste, great aroma, and a hell of a mouthfeel. Damn good beer. Cant wait to try the oak aged next!
