elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA Nov 20, 2008 11/3/08 notes: bomber, from CT Beverage. Pours deep black-brown with a finger-and-a-half of tan head. Aroma is rich of roasts, dark chocolate, sweet brown sugar, and coffee. Palate is a serenely smooth and creamy, with just a mild carbonation. Palate is almost in deference to the amazing flavors present. Flavors begin with rich vanilla and liquid dark chocolate, transitioning to a coffee profile. Finish lingers on a mocha-sweet note, with a delicious roasty flavor. This blend lingers tastefully, long enough to hold me over ‘til the next sip. It is a toss up whether Yeti or his oak-aged brother is superior. Different but equal, I’ll settle for. WickerBrew (312), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 20, 2008 A big tasty stout that doesnt really stand out in the crowd but doesnt carry anything that detracts from the taste. There is a touch of dark natural sweetness that is great and doesnt come from being yeasty. A good dark thick pour at a tasty price. Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Nov 18, 2008 22oz bottle. Thanks to BeerandBlues2, thanks Brad. Extremely dark pour, brown head. Nice chocolatly aroma, rich, full of dark malty goodness. Nice coffee flavor, a little bitter, but very nice. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Nov 17, 2008 Pitch black body with a nice thick finger of dark chocolate colored head. Heavy roasted aroma, chocolate and herbal hops. Luscious silky feel. Taste is heavy roasted malt and burned toast up front then dark malt and hop bittering finish. tomthompson89 (1459), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 2, 2008 poured pitch black with beige foam. nose is roasty, choc, some molasses. flavor is coffee choc, vanilla, alcohol is well hidden, and a little hops in there for good measure. Great beer!!1 had had it oak aged but i think i almost prefer this one. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA Nov 1, 2008 Strong dark malt and coffee like aromas, with hints of toffee, vanilla, and sour cream. Solidly opaque, dark, dark brown with a brown colored head. Flavor is dark rich malt that sticks to the tongue, chocolate, some smoked wood, mild saltiness, and some creaminess. Palate is rich and fairly thick with a good long stout duration and a mildly bitter finish. Very good. basewars (144), Albany, New York, USA Oct 31, 2008 Bottle. Pours oil black and viscous. Brown head. Aroma is chocolate and hops. Flavor is similar with a grapefruit finish. The hop bitterness is a nice balance. Good stuff. Jayb0 (750), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA Oct 31, 2008 Lives up to the reputation. I like it better than the oak aged version. Great interplay of flavors, not as vinous, more roasty than many imperial stouts. The hopping really comes through in the second half, preventing any sort of syrupy or overly sweet experience. Big but drinkable, a great beer.
