| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 1, 2008 Strong dark malt and coffee like aromas, with hints of toffee, vanilla, and sour cream. Solidly opaque, dark, dark brown with a brown colored head. Flavor is dark rich malt that sticks to the tongue, chocolate, some smoked wood, mild saltiness, and some creaminess. Palate is rich and fairly thick with a good long stout duration and a mildly bitter finish. Very good. basewars (145), Albany, New York, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 31, 2008 Lives up to the reputation. I like it better than the oak aged version. Great interplay of flavors, not as vinous, more roasty than many imperial stouts. The hopping really comes through in the second half, preventing any sort of syrupy or overly sweet experience. Big but drinkable, a great beer. dmtroyer (409), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 30, 2008 22oz. This is a black beer with a tan head, beautiful, but fairly normal pour for the style. Nose is loads of a caramel covered ruby red fruit grapefruit. Body follows with similar, unique combinations of a serious dose of citrus hops and roasted coffee malts. Relatively light mouthfeel, this is a relatively drinkable imperial stout. With such a unique hoppiness this brew deserves an oustanding rating. nightrider (373), encinitas, California, USA
