Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Solid black pour with large dark tan head. Heavy roast, coffee, mocha, port aromas. Tastes similarly with power in each flavor, alcohol is lingering the whole time. Full bodied to say the least. I was a little surprised by the hop bitterness later on. In your face with the espresso and bitter staying with you a while. Barrel does mellow it out, but it has it’s drawbacks also, so I like them about equally. Both are definetely agers.

Draught. Pours black with a nice, fluffy dark brown head that left delicate lacing all down the glass. Nose is cocoa and espresso, roasty, with the hops lending a slightly acidic note to the roastiness. Taste matches - espresso, roasty, hint of cocoa, with a dry, slightly acidic hop finish that hints of pine. Good, but the acidity and roastiness are better when slightly checked by the smooth vanilla of the oaked version. Just a bit rough around the edges for my taste. Mouthfeel has just a bit of carbonation bite, thick, but not quite as viscous as i would have liked.

Pours pure black color, with 2 finger dark brown head with lacing. Strong chocolate, toffee, and burnt smell. Taste is almost the same with malt and lots of hop taste some alcohol noticed but would not think 9.5%. This is one of my new favorite beers the flavors blend well and is a very well made imperial stout.

Medium brown head leaves lacing on the glass. Nearly opaque black body with red translucence. Roasty bready deep malt aroma with raisin and hop notes. Dryish sweetish firm malty roasty taste with pine needle raisin notes. Sharpish, edgy. Dry roasty pine needle hop notes. Nice, but definitely improves when oak aged. (0.1l taster draft at EBF ’08.)

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Very dark foam. Starts strong-malty and prickly, notes of coffee and liquorice, woody finish. A bit too prickly I think, but still good!

dark pour. Nice bi colored head with nice lacing. Aroma of dark fruit and spice (licorice/ pine?). Taste is very chewy with a bit too much dark fruit flavor (prune?) for my taste. Palate is thick and chewy. Oily palate. flavor just hurt. Like the oak aged betteR

35cl Bottle, bbe 5/08. Pitch black, creamy, lightly lacing mocca head. Strong minty wood chip aroma with dark chocolate and dry coffee. Immensely mentholey flavor, burned malts, coffee, little hops in the finish. Full bodied, smoooooth palate. All the chocolatey roastiness gets a bit lost under the overpowering menthol, but still a great brew. And omg when they put it on oak!

Incredibly black pour, and a thick creamy brown head. Aroma of insanely roasted malt, lots of coffee, and some chocolate, and a nice tinge of smoke, and soy sauce. Flavour is intense, and very bitter. Lots of roasted malt, and loads of coffee, with a huge burnt aftertaste. Extremely bitter finish with a lingering coffee note, wow, intense, and complex.
