gfolivares (67), McAllen, Texas, USA May 14, 2008 Pours an opaque, ink-like black with a thick light tan head. Incredibly complex and aeromatic with hints of burnt caramel, roasted coffee, anise, and cacao liquer. Full bodied with a thick, oily mouthfeel. Equally complex taste, with a rich, roasted malt sweetness suggestive of rich brownie batter and toffee, which gives way to a massive, uncompromising, sasquach-sized hop flavor with hints of bitter chocolate, strong unsweetened black expresso, black licorice, and rum-soaked raisins. Warm, lingering finish with notes of coffee liquer, vanilla bean, burnt brown sugar over crem brule, and tart, bitter semi-sweet dark chocolate covered coffe beans. Try with a rich chocolate desert, banana fosters, or tiramisu. Enjoyit (1697), Vadum, Denmark May 14, 2008 Black of color with a very nice brown head. A flavor of hops, coffee, liqurice, roasted malt and chocolate notes. A flavor of liqurice, hops, roasted malt, coffee and weak chocolate. A very nice stout! zootfinster (179), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 11, 2008 I really enjoyed this beer. Dark brown pour with a big brown head. lots of chocolate coffee carmel taste. Very smooth. I just started tasting Great Divide beer. I will certainly continue. blackmurder (164), sadf, Hawaii, USA May 10, 2008 A very very good imperial stout that is wonderfully smoky and dirty tasting. Poured a thick black with a frothy huge head but that’s because I just dumped the beer in there. lemasney (398), Trenton, New Jersey, USA May 9, 2008 Updated: May 10, 2008ABV: 9.5%

First Impression: Aroma is chocolate, caramel, and espresso. Dark roasted notes. Aroma is simply amazing. Fills the room. Visuals are an oily black with a tan head that starts thick but dissipates quickly to a wispy film. There is no light penetrating - sucks you in. Taste is its greatest feature, with fuller chocolate notes than many others. Peppery. Reminds me of other favorite chocolate stouts, like Brooklyn’s. It is rich, deep, and satisfying - well balanced, and 9.5% is hidden expertly. Palate is sudsy, satin, and luxurious. This is worthy of very high praise. Second Impression: One of my favorites. I have to start getting a hold of some more Great Divide brews - I hardly noticed them before. There’s something about the more subtle notes that put this brew slightly above the others in its class.

Overall: 20 out of 20. I think this is my perfect beer. zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA May 9, 2008 Mmmm...blackness with a thick golden head. It leads to a chocolate- sweet malt smell. i don’t taste the 9.5 abv. Fresh raisin and date. Malt finish. DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA May 7, 2008 Pours a jet black with a small but thick brown head that leaves a ring around the glass. Fantastic aroma of chocolate, raisins, toffee, brown sugar, and espresso! Taste is full of sweet chocolate, raisins/dark fruits at first with a creamy, caramel coffee body. The finish is surprisingly a little hoppy with a lingering coffee aftertaste. Snojerk321 (1917), San Diego, California, USA May 1, 2008 22oz bottle from bottle trek. Pours opaque with a small chocolaty head, some lacing. Cocoa, caramel, toffee and chocolate rounded out both nose and flavor. A great imperial stout!
