Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

A very very good imperial stout that is wonderfully smoky and dirty tasting. Poured a thick black with a frothy huge head but that’s because I just dumped the beer in there.

ABV: 9.5% RateBeer rating: 99 Calories: estimated at 400C Volume: 22 fl oz Glass: small snifter Purchased at: Joe Canal’s, Lawrenceville, NJ Price: $7.29 Consumed at: home First Impression: Aroma is chocolate, caramel, and espresso. Dark roasted notes. Aroma is simply amazing. Fills the room. Visuals are an oily black with a tan head that starts thick but dissipates quickly to a wispy film. There is no light penetrating - sucks you in. Taste is its greatest feature, with fuller chocolate notes than many others. Peppery. Reminds me of other favorite chocolate stouts, like Brooklyn’s. It is rich, deep, and satisfying - well balanced, and 9.5% is hidden expertly. Palate is sudsy, satin, and luxurious. This is worthy of very high praise. Second Impression: One of my favorites. I have to start getting a hold of some more Great Divide brews - I hardly noticed them before. There’s something about the more subtle notes that put this brew slightly above the others in its class. Aroma: 10 out of 10 Visuals: 5 out of 5 Taste: 10 out of 10 Palate: 5 out of 5 Overall: 20 out of 20. I think this is my perfect beer.

Mmmm...blackness with a thick golden head. It leads to a chocolate- sweet malt smell. i don’t taste the 9.5 abv. Fresh raisin and date. Malt finish.

Pours a jet black with a small but thick brown head that leaves a ring around the glass. Fantastic aroma of chocolate, raisins, toffee, brown sugar, and espresso! Taste is full of sweet chocolate, raisins/dark fruits at first with a creamy, caramel coffee body. The finish is surprisingly a little hoppy with a lingering coffee aftertaste.

22oz bottle from bottle trek. Pours opaque with a small chocolaty head, some lacing. Cocoa, caramel, toffee and chocolate rounded out both nose and flavor. A great imperial stout!

Bomber. Huge rich chocolate aroma with light coffee and firm, rounding red berry. Pitch black, motor oil style, with a huge dark brown head, tinged with grey, tiny-bubbled and rocky, with great retention. Bitter taste full of chocolate but no roast, with light bittering from pleasantly present hops. Dark and slashing impy, earthy tones with some significant sweetness. Loads and loads of malt and just a touch of pine near the back end. Great with ice cream! Full body but not obese, aftertaste is a bit wearing. Slight prickling sensation after enough volume, hop-related for sure as the alcohol is well hidden and non-numbing. Dry aftertaste reminds of espresso, though only the aftertaste, as the malty sweetness drowns out any notes of coffee that may have been in the main body. Straightforward and extremely robust.

Nose of caramel with some burnt fruit, hint of smoke. Jet black appearance with rich, tan head. Initial flavor is sweet-dominated caramel that leaves milk chocolate on the tongue. As it warms, the hops linger a little longer, but it’s simpler than expected and just too sweet. At 9% ABV and the hefty 22oz size, you can’t knock them back too quickly, and with all the sweetness, I’m not sure I’d want to.
