Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Had this beer in DC, bottle from Whole Foods. Really compares well to my Standard StormKing. Black red, full of hops and fragerences. Nice head with Red undertones, drinks well , full of resins, malts and hops, but finishes with only a pleasant bitterness. Great with a big cheese.

Pours a black color topped with a nice thick deep brown head. The head does settle down to small patches on top. Roasted malt aroma with toffee and molasses backed with some hops. Mouthfeel is rich, heavy and very full. Flavor starts with roasted bitter malts with some burned dark chocolate and toffee. It finishes with some bitter hops and a lot of bold black coffee which can be tasted in the aftertaste for a long time. A bit dry and warming. There isn’t necessarily an alcoholic rush but the flavors are bold, bitter and complex and it is evident that this beer is high in abv. I loved sampling this beer. It’s probably not going to be a regular for me and I doubt I want too many at one seating but this beer was quite a bit of fun. I have a bottle of the Oak Aged version so I look forward to that one.

[bottle] Pours a very deep black with a modest tan head. Aroma is roasted barley, some hops, and a little chocolate. Taste was as the smell, with some astringency from the malt. I like this one better than the Oak Aged version.

Bottle. Pours black as crude with thick brown foam. Spicy fruit hop aroma. Flavour starts sweet and fades to deep chocolaty malt. Better than the Oak Aged Version

Excellent stout. Poured black as night with a nice creamy head. Acquired in a 22oz bottle. Flavors were rich in roasted dark chocolate and malt. Strength makes it just right!

Black in color with a brown head that left a thin layer. Aromas were sweet with scents of chocolate, vanilla and coffee. On the other hand, in the mouth it showed hoppy bitterness throughout along with sweet roasted malt in the backgroud. It had solid weight but it did not come off as heavy. There was a touch of alcohol noticable on the finish but it was not obtrusive.

22 oz. bottle. Yeti are powerful and elusive. Dark to black opaque pour with thick caramel head. Heavy malt coffee flavor with slight hop bitterness. Although alcohol is high, it never took over the taste at any point. Dark chocolate flavor late in the glass to finsih with the strongest of the hops. Would be an interesting brew to shelve and try in a year to see how much smoother the current smoothness can get.
