Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Pours thick black with a brown head. Strong aromas of burnt malts and coffee. Initial flavors are sweet and bitter coffee and caramel. Finish is slightly bitter and hoppy. Thick full body that is oily, creamy with soft carbonation. Alcohol is present but doesn’t take away from the flavor. A delicious beer. I can’t wait to try the oak aged one.

Chocolate/coffee, almost mocha nose. Black with a hint of brown and amber. Similar to the oaked version, just didn’t seem quite as intense in the roasted flavor. Complex, multiple levels of malty sweetness, perfect hop balance. Full-bodied, nice carbonation, alcohol warms everything. Every bit as good as the oaked version, just a little less extreme in some of the characteristics. Absolutely fantastic.

Poured oily pitch black with a deep brown head. Aroma - dark fruit and scotch. Very sweet with notes of grapefruit and cocoa. Some hoppiness, but not as bitter as I expected.

Bottle. Deep black and thick with a beige head. Balck currants in abundance on the nose. Chocolate. Coffee. The flavour is very sweet. Some tangy black currants. Chocolate, roasted coffee beans and dried fruits as well. The finish is burnt malts and a piney bitterness. Fantastic!

From bottle : Pours thick black, with a finger and a half of brown bubbly head..big lacing. Big time roasted coffee and sweet expresso smells. Taste is nice and thick, thats the first thing i notice. Very choclatey and malty, this is really a wonderful tasting beer. Coffee beans start to come through on the back side, with a little bitterness from the hops, and also a slight trace of alcohol. Very coffee tasting aftertaste. Big thick body on this one, very enjoyable, with a slick oily, creamy mouthfeel, i love the way this beer feels.

My, this is a tasty brew. Pours deep black and generates a nice but short-lived orangish-brown head. Smell reminds me of Expedition, but smells a little sweeter and hoppier. Same assessment of the flavor. Not as creamy, but nice malty chocolate notes. Still taste hops more presently than some imperial stouts. Pleasant sweet burnt coffee (espresso, I guess) and yet also very hoppy finish. Can’t wait to try the oak-aged.

Bottle: 2/21/08; only a few months old. Black w/ a small dark brown head. Lots and lots of chocolate in this bad boy. Very roasted as well, just too my liking. Caramel has a pretty strong presence as well. This still has some hops in it. Mouthfeel is fairly thick, but nice and silky, not at all sticky. Coffee comes through pretty strong in the finish mixing nicely with the little bit of hops bitterness. My only aroma complaint would be the presence of a dirt like smell. Excellent beer.
