juiceisloose (640), Windermere, Florida, USA Nov 6, 2007 Updated: Jun 15, 2008On cask at Redlight Redlight. Poured a pitch black with a medium tan head that retained nicely. Has a big aroma of rich dark chocolate, dark malts, some coffee and a touch of smoke as well. The flavor is big and roasty with milk chocolate and coffee coming through. More flavors start to emerge as you drink more with vanilla, caramel, and some burnt malts as well. The finish is roasty with a nice hop bitterness and some alcohol warmth all the way down. Medium bodied and really smooth and rich and easy to drink. The roastedness is there throughout and is well blended with all the other flavors. You could hardly notice the alcohol on this one and that is dangerous. A few of these on draft will definitely sneak up on you. Thanks to Brent for featuring this one. A really well done imperial stout. redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA Nov 1, 2007 on cask @ redlight redlight. Rich dark aromas, burnt coffee, bakers chocolate, the aroma has a strong presence. Pours black, with a milk chocolate, tan head, thats about 1 1/2 inches, but settles down to a dense 1/2 inch. I can’t wait to delve into this beer. Smooth and rich with a hoppy and alcohol bite. Very soft chocolate and vanilla up front, roasty, hints of coffee, then it gets more intense burnt caramel followed by a huge bite of hops and alcohol. Very lovely imp. stout. Jmichael (633), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Oct 31, 2007 Poured into tulip. pours a black, and looks very good, ond it is very good. A great staple of a stout, and fun to drink. scoobysnak (249), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Oct 31, 2007 No light shows through. I get a predominately roasted taste with a strong chocolate flavor in the aftertaste turning into a caramelly experience. Damn good. I will be trying it’s oak aged brother very shortly... Looking forward to it. Defreni (994), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 30, 2007 Updated: Mar 2, 2008Flaske. Men dejlig øl.
Rerate en mere frisk øl. lidt højere karakter. Skeegle (476), Maryland, USA Oct 29, 2007 Updated: Feb 11, 2008This is a great stout. It’s wonderfully dark, black, and very complex. It’s extremely roasted, more malty than most, and tastes very burnt, even for a double stout. Baddevildog82 (4), USA does not count Oct 27, 2007 This beer has an awesome aroma. Lots of chocolate! The appearance is just as got as its big brother, the Oak aged Imperial Stout. The taste is rich and creamy. Not as malty as its big brother. The taste is full of dark coffee and chocolate. Lighter on the palate than one might expect. thewolf (5635), Kolding, Denmark Oct 26, 2007 Bottle, bought @ Kolding Vinhandel. [my 100th american rating] Pitch black pour with a rather small creamy brown head. Powerful aroma, roasted, burnt caramel, a little coffe and much dark chocolate - perhaps cocoa. Extremely creamy and full mouthfeel. Flavour is slightly oaky (even if this is not the oak-aged one), lots of chocolate, a little warming viniousness, some vanilla and lots of roasted toffee. A powewrful presence of hops in the finish.
