Seriously pitch brew swelling with an outlandish milk-chocolate coloured head subsiding to a slender collar. Never seen anything like it. Plenty more milk chocolate in the aroma- Neopolitan ice-cream on grapefruit, dusted with cocoa powder . Unquestionably beautiful but I like my big stouts with a tweak more roast. Faultless whipped mousse palate to let all those pungent soapy grapefruit and floral (rose) notes breathe. Quinine and burnt toast bitterness in a big abrupt finish. No aftertaste but the sensation of intense shampoo bitterness. Hint of liquorice, mostly soap. What happened to the chocolate? Lovely , pungently hopped beer but it tastes like an IPA. There’s milds of 3% with bigger malt profiles than this. That said, I loved it. More smoke, cocoa, coffee or dark fruit flavour required to achieve true stoutiness, but I’m nitpicking. A great beer. Charcoal aroma with some tea and chocolate as well as chicory. Super-creamy silky mouthfeel! Flavors are all about coffee. Nuanced, lingering bitter aftertaste has some licorice too. Enchanting, sublime, smooth, intriguing, dark, and and sexy. michael-pollack (2749), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma is rich and chocolately. Taste is extremely full-bodied and full of chocolate flavoring. A great roasted taste that is slightly burnt with a full but slightly oily mouthfeel. Very highly recommended.
Re: Rate Modest tan head that explodes and then dissipates opaque and black as midnight. Aroma is magnificent, rich coffee and chocolate with apricots and cherries, light diaper aroma. Like lavender and baby powder. Cocoa powder dominates. This is freaky tasty, lots of chocolate and cherry goodness, golden espresso with a very nice hop profile. Perfectly balanced from beginning to end. Suttree (2743), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 13, 2004 Black with a brown head. Mildly fruity, coffee-ish mocha-ish aroma. Silky smooth palate. Dryish, but also sweet. Familiar flavors of coffee and chocolate are there, of course, but also an appealing hop bite, like pine or even a citrus flavor. Very enjoyable. There are some wonderful qualities here that speak to the effort put into it. 100% opaque for all practical purposes (unless you get really picky about looking for the edge), with a very dark tan head, though it doesn’t hang around much on this high-alcohol beast. Another strong-suit: the mouthfeel, which is very silky and oily. But I am really surprised at the hop/malt balance chosen for this. Although some grape/port aromas compement the roasted aromas, there were times when my nose couldn’t find its way through the hops. And the flavor, while big, leaned too heavily on a roasted note that glossed into hoppy aftertastes. I was looking for a beer that would glide with richness and oozing dessert-beer qualities, but I found moments of raw aggression--perhaps that’s the Yeti coming out here.
