Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Nicely black body with a small head. Surprisingly hoppy in the aroma and the flavor, especially for such an opaque stout. Nicely bitter, but the malt isn’t really doing it for me. It seems to take a back seat to the hops and in an Imperial stout, it really should be the other way around. It’s got all the prerequisites for the malt profile (dark, roasty/burnt flavors), but it’s not even approaching rich. Still a tasty beer despite my qualms with it.

Well, I think I'll let my wife rate this one (the quotes are her) "Smells really hoppy" "Is there fruit in this - look at the red color" (mixed in with the tan head on top of the super black body) "The flavor is in 3 sections - sharp up front, then sweet, then roasty at the end" I found a 4th flavor - some chocolate on the front of the tongue at the end. Delicious.

Poured a very pitch dark black color with a nice chocolatey head that yielded great lacing. The aroma was resinous, somewhat pine-like, and full of the usual stout aromas of light roasted coffee and chocolate. The flavor was much of the same with the alcohol fairly detectable. Best part of this beer was the smoothness, the nice silky and creamy mouthfeel. Finish was resinous and nicely bittered (I don’t normally like hoppy stouts, either).

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black stout with a medium off-white foamy head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and vanilla is very enjoyable. Taste start with some bitterness from the roasted malt and hops but then fades away to leave a strong vanilla finish. Body is about medium full and could have been fuller and alcohol is well hidden. A bit more sweet then the oak-aged version but as enjoyable nonetheless.

This Imperial pours with a black as night body topped by a medium thick to thick brown head with a good amount of lacing. The aroma is sweet and malty with notes of licorice, alcohol and a sweet smokiness. A slight touch of chocolate is also noticed. The flavor is sweet and full of roasted malt with notes of chocolate, coffee, alcohol and anise. The brew is thick anf full bodied yet smooth.

650 ml bottle mail order from liquidsolutions. Black with a foamy brown head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, and cherries. Bright silky palate. Very rich taste of dark bitter chocolate, dried fruit, toffee, and finishes with an espresso taste and some roasty almost burnt notes. Excellent.
