Sweet anise and port wine flavour, with an orange finish. Sticky oily mouthfeel. Black with a tan lasting head. Really nice warming feel from the alcohol. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 27, 2006 bomber - Pours deep, dark black with a thin tan head. It has a good dark roast malt aroma with some chocolate notes. The flavor is a nice, smooth dark roast with coffee and chocolate notes and ample hops. The big hops are a fine complement to this characteristically huge style. Well done, GD. Indra (2029), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 18, 2004 (Rating is for Yeti.) Rich, lightly fruity, tart and surprisingly hoppy aroma with hints of salt, wood, earth, chocolate and dark brown sugar becoming apparent. Deep brown-black color, opaque, with a slight, fine dark brown head. Flavor is highly roasty, again faintly tart and sour, with a sweet, lightly smoky background. Dry, malty and bitter finish, eventually developing some strongly coffeeish properties. Mouthfeel is smooth and somewhat acidic, body is undoubtedly full. Quite possibly the hoppiest Imperial I’ve tried to date. Interesting and powerful. Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 6, 2007 Abysmally deep black body. Opaque with a minute brown-gray head. Notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, and caramel malts. Great beer to sip on during cold months. Rich, complex textures that reinvent themselves with each tasting. Varies considerably from draught to bottle pour. Bustling US hops that are used in such a way that the pallet is not bruised. Great great bear! cheapdark (2017), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jan 18, 2007 Updated: Jan 1, 2008The notorious Yeti. On tap at the Bocktown bar & grill in the Robinson shopping complex. Pours very black with a darker tan head. The head keeps holding on. Imperial stout is one of my least favorite styles so don’t look for any super evaluation here. Sweet aroma that is typical of many imperial stouts. When you taste it, it has the impact of your good imp stouts. Definitely within the style. Deep roasty, charred wood and black coffee. The liquid does not seem to be as thick as other stouts I’ve tasted. This brew does have some carbonation, something that is usually lacking in these stouts. A vicious malty/hoppy bitter astringent linger that really hangs with you for a long time after the last swallow. Bitter like medicine. I think this is what many stout lovers like about imp stouts, something I’ll never get used to. I guess this is the thing that they consider creative personality. How can something that is so bitter be referred to as wonderful I don’t know. The only reason I give this a rating that is as high as a 2 is that I’m afraid I would be considered a troll, will not buy again. Yep, very similar to thirsty dogs siberian, bells exp and brooklyn choco. Yeti is probably a hair better. Not quite as bitter as lion stout. Normally I would stay away from IPA and imp stout, since I don’t have enough beer experience to enjoy the style. I got this one as a gift from a friend. I’d never buy it for myself, it is way too expensive. I’ll sneak this rating in early in the morning so nobody will see it. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA

Aroma, chocolate, coffee, a bit of vanilla. Flavor, chocolate, roasty bitterness, some hints of coffee. Mouthfeel is really nice, medium to full bodied with a nice smooth creamy texture. I really like this. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Thick creamy lacing. Smells delicious. Coffee, chocolate, roasty sweetness. Taste is rich, thick, and coats the entire tongue with a powdery bitterness, similar to bitter cocoa powder. Long lasting finish with a good mouthfeel. The high alcohol content was hidden well in my opinion. FROTHINGSLOSH (2009), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Oct 15, 2006 Updated: Sep 3, 2008Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this marvelous beer poured thick, black and oily with the darkest brown head I have ever seen. The aroma is a wonderful mix of roasty malts, sweet chocolate and light floral hops. The mouthfeel is thick and smooth. The flavor is moderate floral hops, sweet chocolate and roasty malts. The finish is long with bitter malts and sweet chocolate. Overall a classic of the style and significantly better than the barrel aged version.
