Nice rich aroma with black cherries, dark chocolate, roasted grains and a bit of licorice. Some coffee in there also. Underlying bitterness in the aroma is very hopefull. Color is a dark brownish black. Rich meaty flavor. Medium bodied. Bit of soy sauce and some tartness. Tons of roasted malts. Good amount of bitterness in there balances the sweet and rich malts very well. Finish is roasty and a bit salty with a good helping of hops. Lingering bitterness with a slick chewy coating in the mouth. Nice alcohol tingle and warming. A top notch imperial stout. Thanks to Eyedrinkale for this one. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA

Nice coffee nose, very hoppy (pine resin). Delicious, and kept thin (I think) by the intense hoppiness and the nearly excessive carbonation. Vey drinkable. Similar in my mind to Great Lakes Blackout, but this is a tad thinner. rederic (1811), montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 23, 2008 On tap at the brewery, pitch black color, with a tan-colored head, leafy, coniferous hop nose, with some piney, cedary notes, coming out first, with some dark chocolate, black coffee, roasty malt accents, in a warmth aroma follows through on a full-bodied palate with a sweet roasted, caramelized malt, coniferous, piney hop character, with a dark bitter chocolate, roasted coffee bean flavor, with some leafy, grassy bitterness, with hint of caramel, molasses, leading towards a chocolatey, well hop leafy, coniferous warming, bittering finish. The finish is more on the side of the hoppiness than the roastiness. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | Jul 20, 2004 Bottle. OIly black body capped with a 5mm dark beige head. The nose is suprisingly hoppy and smells like toffee. First flavors pulled out are roasted malt, toffee, hops, some caramel, and a little raisin/prune. Secondary flavor notes are cinnamon, pine, mint, grapefruit, and alcohol. The mouthfeel is very sharp and bitter. The finish in interesting-the front end is bitter-sweet like semi-sweet chocolate, but it gives way to a sharp bitterness. The piney/hoppy flavors come together and blend with the roasted malts in a very unique way. Overall a very clean balanced taste. My only complaint is that the bitterness, although good, almost is distracting from the overall taste. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 9, 2006 Pours a nice black. Coffee/chocolate and little tobacco aroma. Flavor is awesome, rich and smooth, like roasted espresso loaded with dark bitter chocolate and kinda sweet. The alcohol is well hidden among the massive flavors. thornecb (1801), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 25, 2006 Pours dark into a snifter. Mocha head dissipates with solid lacing. Roasted hop aroma. Jet black. Very smooth, velvety -- like hot chocolate then a sticky, long well-balanced finish. Very nice. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA

Nose was coffee, chocolate, some anise, bit of citrus. Full bodied and intense flavored. Flavor held some sweetness and the robust coffee/chocolate notes of the style. Very warm and rewarding and satisfying. Excellent stout.

Pours dark brown, almost black with a huge brown head. Soft carbonation and oily mouthfeel. Aroma of coffee grounds, black patent malt, dark chocolate, and at warmer temps...alcohol. Nicely blended flavors of coffee, bitter dark chocolate, and molasses. Semi dry, mildly hoppy, and chalky finish. This is a fine example of an Imperial Stout. Better than the OA Yeti.
