Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Yummmmmm. Opaque black with nice tan head. Nose was coffee, chocolate, some anise, bit of citrus. Full bodied and intense flavored. Flavor held some sweetness and the robust coffee/chocolate notes of the style. Very warm and rewarding and satisfying. Excellent stout.

12oz from Sam’s, Durham. Much as I prefer the oak-aged version, the Yeti is nothing to fuck with. Nice café au lait head on top of this rich, chewy black pour. Thick and sludgy, just like the Yeti might move through the arctic wastes. Big notes of burnt coffee and dark chocolate, very inviting. A lively hop presence is there when the beer’s young, giving the brew even more of a bitter edge (though somehow not at the expense of the malts). Very satisfying when you’re in the mood for an especially aggressive imperial stout.

Pitch black with thick head. Sweet liquorice aroma with roasty, almost smoked notes. Thick mouthfeel. Flavour is roasted, sweet and very bitter, all at once, but still very balanced. Loved it!

Pours black with a dark brown head. Very sweet. Has a strong caramel/sugary effect in the back of the throat. Port-like. nice warming alcohol in the finish. I actually prefer this one to the oak aged version.

Black of color with a very nice brown head. A flavor of hops, coffee, liqurice, roasted malt and chocolate notes. A flavor of liqurice, hops, roasted malt, coffee and weak chocolate. A very nice stout!

Served in a snifter @ 59 degrees. Pours the color of Hershey’s chocolate syrup, with a creamy head the resembles an over cooked flan. Completely opaque, and dense. Truck loads of American hop aroma. Grapefruit, and evergreen to be precise. Burnt sugar, Carmel, dried fruits are apparent. Each drink is bliss. The hop character starts with ’shock and awe’ type attack, then a big slap of rich dark chocolate takes the middle, and finishes like a bitter cup of gas station joe with chocolate flavoring. Top that off with a mouth filling body, and a slight alcohol burn, and you have a staple beer for any stout lover.
