Taste is full of flavor of everything you would expect from a classic imperial stout. Roasted, chocolaty, and dark. Finish is an excellent blend of hoppiness and smokiness. Not necessarily a unique flavor of stout, but one that is well developed and has all the right elements in play. Alc. is well masked. ReRate: Oak aged at the Falling Rock. Yea, good stuff. sneagrams3 (1756), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Spicy and earthy aromas. Full and smooth. Creamy body. Cola, burnt coffee and vanilla. Bitter chocolate. Rich and sweet with a nice alcohol burn. Rather lively. I was about to call this an "ordinary" imperial stout until I really got down with the hops in this guy. It’s hard to tell exactly what they are because well-balanced with a truckload of chocolate and roast malt. There’s a strong effervescence in the finish, I think it’s a combination of hops and alcohol. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 22, 2005 Very thick black color, lots of smoke in the aroma and lots of chocolate. The body holds up well, the chocolate is real, not plastic and the coffee is huge, i love this one copared to its oaked counterpart/. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 8, 2005 Bottle. Chocolate milk shake aroma. Very brown head, rootbeer floatish. Nice lace. Bittersweet chocolate. Alcohol is noticeable. A little cloying. Higher alcohol and better than Lost Coast 8-ball stout, which is a similar brew. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 7, 2007 Bottle: My first impression was the noticeably more hops in the aroma than typical for a stout. After pouring the rich brown/near black liquid with a massive brown head, scents of roast, cocoa, and mocha abound. A rich taste of coffee, roast, mocha, molasses, and hops create a silky creamlike mouthful. A wonderful stout in it’s own right, but lacks a bit of complexity in flavors to score a truly perfect rating. Enjoyit (1712), Vadum, Denmark

A flavor of hops, coffee, liqurice, roasted malt and chocolate notes. A flavor of liqurice, hops, roasted malt, coffee and weak chocolate. A very nice stout!
