Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with little head. Aromas are very fruity, but the figs and and prunes that are present in the nose disappear from the flavor almost completely. Cream, chocolate, oatmeal and tobacco are the driving forces here with alcohol being detectable in the finish.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2009-01-22) Pitch black. Small tan coloured head. Roastedness, hops and vanilla in aroma. Full bodied palate, dry and with little carbonation. Roastedness, lot of bitterness, bit of vanilla, coffee, liquorice and chocolate. Roasty and bitter aftertaste.

Bottle (probably was sitting around for awhile). Pours dark black with a beautiful thick light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, hops. I loved the hop profile of this beer! Flavor of hops, roasted malt. Mouthfeel was a little less rich and dense compared to the Oaked Yeti. Yum!

Bottle (around 2 years old) from Kegs & Barrels in Plano, TX. Pours a rich, dark brown/black with thick, creamy tan/chocolate head. Aroma of dark roasted grain, coffee, chocolate, some earthiness. Flavor is rich, strong dark roast, very malty, coffee, baking chocolate, musty, strong bitter to balance out the sweetness. Mouth feel is heavy body with medium-high carbonation. Mouth feel is very smooth and drinkable as well.....a very well made strong stout....My wife may help me do naughty things with it tonight! Yesssss!!!!!!!&

Bottle. Opaque black with a big bubbly brown head that disappears slowly, bubble by bubble. Aroma of dark chocolate and some coffee. A very nice sweet malty flavor with some roasted chocolate, caramel, a bit of coffee and hints of alcohol. Finishes bitter with a mix of roastiness and bittering hops. Medium to full-bodied. A very tasty stout.

Finally rating this one after several previous bottles. Pours black with a very dark tan head. Rich cocoa/chocolate aromas, with some roast, alcohol, and hop character present. Expected a heavier palate, so it’s very drinkable. Heavy bitter flavors abound from roast and hop origins. The bitterness is touched by the cocoa and provides balance. A great, accessible IS.

Re-rate bottled as Yeti Stout. Not as thick, motor oily and beef jerky-esque as Maverick. Still incredible with that big roasty, coffee and chocolate flavor. Bottled as Maverick Imperial Stout 2003 series. Awesome. Pours black as death with a small brown/amber head. Looks like heavily used motor oil. Aroma is highly unique: chocolate malt, dark coffee and smoked beef jerky! Taste is of dark coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, big hops, caramel and dark fruit. Sweet. Mouthfeel is full, creamy and oily. Aftertaste has a nice roasted hoppy bitterness. Highly recommended!
