Commercial Description:
Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

on cask @ redlight redlight. Rich dark aromas, burnt coffee, bakers chocolate, the aroma has a strong presence. Pours black, with a milk chocolate, tan head, thats about 1 1/2 inches, but settles down to a dense 1/2 inch. I can’t wait to delve into this beer. Smooth and rich with a hoppy and alcohol bite. Very soft chocolate and vanilla up front, roasty, hints of coffee, then it gets more intense burnt caramel followed by a huge bite of hops and alcohol. Very lovely imp. stout.

Black, black, black with a thick brown head. The nose is wonderful with blossoming chocolate bursts, the right amount of hop presence coming through, and of course a welcome roastiness. The body is full, smooth, and thick. Hints of licorice sit on the front of the tongue. Hops invade the entire drink, but are surrounded and complimented by minty notes, chocolate undertones, and roast. A wonderful imperial stout. I tasted this side by side with the Oak aged Yeti. I enjoyed this much better. Great work!

Pours blackedy black black, head is darker brown than most dark brown beers, lots of lace and head is long lasting. Molasses and whiskey in the aroma with some hops and dark chocolate. Big flavor, pretty roasty, whiskey again, dark chocolate and a pretty hoppy finish. Big body, a little dryer, lingering coffee and hoppy bitterness on the tongue. Quite good. Thanks rudolf for having your friend pick this up for me.

12 oz bottle from Oak Tree. Pours a great looking solid black body sitttin nuderneath two finers of tightly formed deep beige/lt brown head that totally disappears but leaves some interesting lace on the rear of my New Belgium Fat Tire glass. Aroma has lots of hops, citrus, lemon zest, grapefruit, bakers chocolate, roastiness, pineapple and slight tobacco and tar. Flavor has way more roastiness then the aroma lets on with lots of tar, tobacco, dark chocolate, citrus notes, pineapple, burnt toast with fermenting orange marmelade jam. Full bodied with stronger carbonation, slightly chalky finish with a strong bitterness from the hops that are still shining through like this was an IPA. Good stuff but the malty aroma and flavor of an Impy Stout are being overshadowed by all the hops, still good stuff.

Very heavy roasted nose, caramel, malts, some sweetness and alcohol can also be detected. Very thick and very dark brown to black body, with a wonderful ruby tint, big fluffy brown head. Lots of roasted malts in the flavor, coffee, chocolate, ends on a bitter roasty note. Very creamy and balanced.

22 oz bottle, at least 2 years old. Almost black with a sudsy, sticky tan head. Nose is licorice and coffee; prunes with a bit of pine. Medium full body with a coating mouthfeel and a slight, watery tang. Taste is milk chocolate, grapes and brown sugar. Finishes with dark roast and citrus peel, pith. No problem drinking this but seems to have lost something with aging.

355ml bottle from Systembolaget. Black. Brown head with lots of lace that sticks like glue to the glass. Aroma is intensely hoppy with some chocolate underneath it. Flavor has lots of hops, grapefruit, licorice. There is some roasted malt down there, but the hops almost completely trample it. The body is thick with low carbonation, and an astringent finish. Overall just really bitter and hoppy, not really going for balance I guess. I can live with that, but it doesn’t blow me away.
